SAMOKHODNAYA USTANOVKA-152/KV14 RENOVATORS DREAM!
G'day folks
Got the next project on the bench.
Inherited this from a bloke that inherited it from another joker, that got it from god knows where.
Neither really did much with it over the years.
Lucky for me this was the case, or I may never have got one.
Of all the Russian AFV's, this is by far my favourite, if not almost of ALL AFV's............
What I have is a Jukenburg SU152 kit in resin, with the original resin barrel & mantlet assembly, and what I can assume is a Taigen lower.
This thing is very old, perhaps over a Decade, so what I have, is what I've got.
Its a bit of a basket case, lots of broken bits etc, periscope covers robbed off it, no rear hatches, no internals............but wow! its a Jukenburg 152
Plan to represent an early version KV14 that went into Kursk as an unknown weapon system, that became the stuff of legends........
Zveroboy (Animal Killer)
Already during research there is a realm of info as to what distinguishes an early, from a mid, from a late, from an ISU 152
Commonly seen in newsreels, these early versions numbered only 700 odd.
The most familiar ones are actually ISU 152's which were produced until the late 50's.
I will be scouring the world for bits for this thing, have a barrel on the way , and would really appreciate any guidance on parts etc to get it to where it should be.
Ive got a specific version in mind.......................

Give me a few hours (i.e. after I knock off for the day), and I'll upload a bunch of pics - Mine's the El-Mod, but I think they should be the same.
Also to add - no internals is par for the course with Juckenburg, you can expect a few headaches there...

This sounds like it's going to be a very interesting build Herman

I'm building an SU-152 also at the moment from the Armoured Models kit. Info on the SU-152 on the internet is scarce and hard to find because the search engines also bring up the ISU-52 which of course is a completely different TD based on the IS chassis. Good pages I found:

I'm also using the KV Variant book which has extensive line drawings of all the SU-152 features.

I'd forgotten just how heavy this thing is

I also bought one of the El-mod kits. I was very impressed by the aluminum 152mm barrel, but not happy with the clear resin muzzle brake. And then, I found that Shapeways offers a replacement in either plastic or METAL (hubba-hubba)! Naturally, I got the metal one just because it was so cool; although it adds a lot of weight to an already-flimsy barrel mount/pivot. Link to that is here: https://www.shapeways.com/product/E9KA5 ... arketplace
Re: SAMOKHODNAYA USTANOVKA-152/KV14 RENOVATORS DREAM!
at the risk of jinxing it - that muzzle break was been remarkably robust...

How I want it to look when its done.....................
http://www.workbenchhobbies.com/su-152/#s9
Some early versions had camo patterns, some did not.
Some very late ones had camo(ISU 152's) , some did not.
I like the look of this one, and its harder to get right than just a plain green one.
