TRACKS
Untitled by jon newsom, on Flickr
Start with a grey Primer, then we will mix pigment fixer with track wash, thats the jar in the center.

Brush it on and then immediately sprinkle on pigment/dirt mix, then immediately brush off the top with a paper towel.

You want the top of the tread clean of dirt/pigment

Next blot on Burnt Iron from Mr Hobby

After that is dry go back over the top with a graphite stick, this really gives it a real metal look.

Next do the inside where the wheels rub with the graphite stick.
Done! You may notice this is the same as the Jagdtiger a few years back, but on it I used a sand color as the base and they were much lighter. These are darker, it really maters what color base/primer you use

Re: 1946 Panther ~ Jnewboy Customs
Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrI didnt like the fit of the tracks, to tight, dosent look real, so I added two links per side to give it a heavy look.
Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrSpray the whole model with dullcote
Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrThe tarp was made out of old sheer material, dipped in water and brown black acrylic paint thinned to water color consistency then wrapped in a metal wire and placed on the tank wet so it conforms to the tank. Add rust streaks to the wire.
lots of wires for the IR equipment, bend it into place, then paint, then weather with a little Magic Grime, then glue

Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrIf you ever get to the point where you are building for others and shipping around the world you have to think about shipping damage, so with some parts I must put in a metal post.

Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrI noticed a mistake, a weld line I never made, back out with the hot knife. new weld line is made, painted and then rubbed with graphite.

Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrI went back over the weld lines with the graphite
Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrAlso did the machine gun in the turret
Untitled by jon newsom, on FlickrIt is done! I will take the final pictures tomorrow. But every great tank needs a great crew so they are next!
