Tankzone-and a King's ransom

When tank surfing, I'm not inclined to wash up on Tankzone's shore- partly because of its reputation, and partly because I must curb this tank buying habit.
re: Tankzone, I'll just say, I've never bought anything from that site, and so I'll reserve judgment on it. It has mixed reports from others; some bad, some good, and some indifferent. Still, it can't be ignored as an outlet since it is Clark's designated supplier in the UK, among other things.
Anyway, if anyone wants to risk a King's ransom on an all-metal Renault FT in 1:6, for example, it may be the place to blow one's savings- (and send the partner out the door permanently )

Looks like Warslug have appointed TZ as a UK distributor. Their prices are indeed eyewatering. Warslug hit the market running with a load of models, but just shows what can be done when you have a parent company with seemingly infinite resources. I guess these are aimed at their native Chinese wealthy customers....

They do command a king's ransom but have to admit, after seeing them in person, they are quite nice. Understand their biggest market are Chinese companies who buy these for display use. That's one way to get a new toy & a tax write-off, to boot.

More of a trophy then, or status symbol, than plaything?
In terms of status display, there was a time when a detailed model bronze cannon would have been seen sitting atop someone's desk, or shelves, along with perhaps Newton's Balls (he has no further use for them ) ...all- highlit by a green Banker's Lamp.
A one-sixth type 94 might well look a tad too imposing on a desk. It could also get in the way of interviews; as a massive obstruction and distraction, or it might even crush the desk itself.

The English having been identified by Napoleon 1st as a Nation of Shopkeepers I think that ennobling the Chinese as a Nation of Entrepreneurs fits well with China's present market domination in items we cannot live without even though only a few years ago we did not know of the existence of the these many and varied products,
So saying I foresee the emergence of tasteful renditions of Steel reinforced Desks and shelves catering for oversized and overweight and overpriced Den/Library/Office ephemera such as the Tanks and Trucks with which we would all like to become familiar if only minor inconsequence's such as Mortgages/ Kids/ Food and She/He who must be obeyed did not get between the wish list and real life.

Going on the starting price of other makes of 1/6th tanks, and by the time you add on all the "extras" needed to run it or detail it to a basic standard, these offerings aren't that much more. And on top of that, these are all metal, not like the others that have fiberglass hulls etc that can crack etc. And have all their basic metal detailing without having to pay extra for metal hatches, extinguishers etc.

That's a big, heavy trophy piece but no larger maybe than a couple of real Tiger's heads (much better alive and free on their bodies) so you'd need a large office! Not for the common or garden RC hobbyist - but nice!

Ahem...Napoleon could never have foreseen that the English would be a nation of Asian shopkeepers, Shaun. How things change, eh?
What's more, the Industrial Revolution that began in Britain, and which gave rise to those 'Dark Satanic Mills', has now shifted to China bringing them the industrial diseases our ancestors used to die from (silicosis etc..). Napoleon could not have foreseen that development, either.
Sadly, Chinese workers don't get paid in 1:6 Type 94s...
Given that one of my ancestors died of silicosis, from the mines in Sanquhar- Dumfriesshire, I feel entitled to claim a Type 94, not for ostentation's sake- on a steel-reinforced desk, but for compensation for his loss.
