Not had a whole lot of time to play around with this in the last few days, but here's where I'm at:

First attempt at printing highlighted that the X axis drive belt needed a little more tension, but it will do as a crash test dummy for the mechanical bits:

Second attempt came out with circular holes and a much better fit overall:

I will never need the appendages for those servos , but never say never.
