It is cool, it's best use IMO is doing desert camo. They now make a substance that can be added to any acrylic color which makes it washable but I have not played with it yet. Take care my friend!Soeren wrote:Hey Jon, thanks for putting that straight. I just misread that. Still the washable colur Looks reaslly interesting. I should have a look into that as well.

Looking awesome, Jon. Weathered whitewash over camouflage is always a winner, and you've perfected it. You wouldn't recognise it from the toy you started with!

Painted the interior

I did the final detail paint to the front fenders, damage and rust is hard to get just right.

Also did some light chipping to the top and engine deck.

Time to start the wash/filter process which really makes the model look "real".
I use my own product Magic Grime, here you can see the sprocket partially applied with an old tooth brush to show the original finish, then there is a pic of the final product after the grime has been gently wiped away giving it a nice filtered look with the detail highlighted.

Re: Jnewboy Customs ~ HL Jagdpanther
Time to do the whole tank in Magic Grime. Scrub it on then wipe it off, wipe it off in the direction water would flow, similar to the white wash removal, the wiping will further the appearance of streaking and run off. So Magic Grime does three major weathering features (filters, washes and streaking)

It is always good to do one elevation at a time, moving around the tank, dont get hasty, you have plenty of time to get each one right before moving on.

Here we go!

As you can see the colors are all blended perfectly which is difficult using normal filters, also you can see the detail is all highlighted by a nice wash look and we have nice subtle streaking showing run off. Once perfect spray with a coat of dullcoat to permanently fix it.

Ok, we are almost done, lets make some mud for the underside and tracks. Plaster, Fresh Mud and Kursk Earth enamel paint along with some real dirt from the yard that has been sifted out. Mix it all together and apply two coats, the first lighter (kursk) and then another blotched with the darker (fresh mud) to show both dry and fresh mud. After each coat sift some actual dirt over it before it dries.

The tracks are similar, primer then a very dark brown paint followed by the mud mix painted on then wiped off the surface that would impact the ground. Then dirt is sifted onto the tracks before the enamel paint could dry.

Now attach the tracks and we are done!

Great results with your Magic Grime there Jon, I'm impressed with how good it looks compared to how straightforward it is to apply. I remember seeing tubs of it up on eBay before, but they disappeared before I bought any.
Re: Jnewboy Customs ~ HL Jagdpanther
I'm going to try to get my etsy store back up and running and list the Magic Grime on there. Much lower fees than eBay. PM me if you want some now, it took some time developing it but now it's my product of choice and is also kid friendly as it cleans up with water. Thanks for the kind words, I hope the step by step pics help others on their builds.Raminator wrote:Great results with your Magic Grime there Jon, I'm impressed with how good it looks compared to how straightforward it is to apply.
