Tamiya Tiger 131

Post by Ad Lav »

Wasn’t supposed to be buying anymore tanks! ;D

However, a mate was practically giving this Tiger away so I decided to make a Tiger 131 replica after visiting the Tank museum in Bovington for Tiger Day.

How it arrived, in a very sorry state, missing all electrics and gearboxes etc.

Bonus feature - metal tracks, we think Schumo or impact early items.

Struck a deal with a mate and swapped some parts so I should have some gearboxes, full electrics and all the bits to finish this beauty, including the elusive K sprue.

Watch this space.

Just spent the last hour washing all the dirt and grime off and then, using oven cleaner, removed what paint and weathering was left.

Some nice parts coming from Axels modellbau soon.

When I think about it you are quite right indeed it is nothing like any allied armour of WW2 which might explain why it is titled as a "TAMIYA" Tiger 131 !!!
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Tiger day was brilliant, great day at and managed to get right next to the tiger and Panzer 3 starting and leaving the hall.

Parts arrived tonight for the build, awaiting K sprue and extra parts later this week too.

K sprue came from a mate.

I have it in good authority that Axels is making a 131 upgrade package :)

Looking on here lots of people have done Oddballs Sherman, I never thought about Tiger 131 but on Sunday at the Grantham meet one guy arrived with a Taigen Tiger. He was new to modelling in general but had put a lot of effort into his and it looked very good.
