Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Absolutely!
Re: My Tiger Tank Project
I finished building and installing the Aber cleaning rods and clamps. It was a very tedious build but I like the way they look. I stained the wood with Walnut and blackened the brass tips with Casey’s Gun Blue. I used Grandt Line plastic wing nuts because the Aber versions looked pretty difficult.

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Good morning,
This tank is looking more and more detailed which equals the realism you wanted. Heaven and the Devil is in the details! ( The Aber wingnuts aren't bad once you get used to doing them )
regards,
Painless

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
Thanks, gentlemen. I wasn’t familiar with exactly how the Aber wing nuts attached. These parts are so tiny and difficult to position properly. On that note I’m having to be extra careful when carrying my tank around because of the added details but to me it’s totally worth the caution. I need to build a wooden carrier for it someday. I’ve seen some cool ideas online.

Re: My Tiger Tank Project
I suspect you are using the "DIY" Aber Wing/Butterfly nuts 16111 ?
Aber also sell an (expensive) ready made set available as "Catalogue Number 16105".

I think I am about to upset someone
Re: My Tiger Tank Project
I think so. They’re in two pieces that somehow get glued together around the bolt. I’m not messing with that.
Re: My Tiger Tank Project
After a bit of “research” I’ve decided to improve my rear end. The easy part was painting the little round reflector red. I’ve also removed the molded on convoy light in preparation for adding the appropriate, early rectangular convoy light. I want it to be functional. If anybody knows of a vendor selling these please let me know. Scratch building one will be almost too difficult for my skill level.
