Yeah Mick I bought a shirt with 1973- Vintage on the label made me feel geriatric. :haha:
I'm no expert on these USMC or the ones used by the US Army on D-day, they all seem to have different variations on a theme, whether they were built from spare steel onboard ship I don't know, some have just simple oil drum "funnels" welded over the intake/ exhausts. Some have the trunks with the exhaust rear one facing the opposite direction.
I'm guessing the object on the back is an improvised water /bilge pump for emergencies!?! (whether I replicate that is another thing).
I also am unsure of whether they had explosive charges to remove them like the British ones or would they just traverse the turret to knock them off with the main gun.

I'm hoping this one will be an adequate representation of a USMC M4 based on wartime pics of the vehicles as I didn't want to put myself under the pressure of replicating a actual single vehicle. I just don't want it to fall apart as soon as I drive it. :/

Nice work Matt!

Your work will provide additional inspiration. I hope to convert the 1/6 Dragon M4A3 to an USMC M4A2 with plans to have the deep wading trunks on it.

Following along,
Barry
