1945 WWII Soviet IS-2 ( TAIGEN\TORRO )
Good morning,
Following the news of this models impending release, I, along with many others here, awaited it's release. A year later at Christmas, Forgebear shipped a slightly damaged ( in previous shipping ) IR version to me. Very Happy overall! Minor plastic repairs later, I have to say that this is one of TAIGEN \TORROs best metal releases yet. Function is flawless and it runs as smoothly as any of the Hobby grade MFU and Receiver equipped models I currently run. All of this has been covered elsewhere along with the build of a 1/35 scale Dragon version for research and paint. That model is finished and while I have done a few things to the TAIGEN IS-2 ( detail-wise ), it is time to open a real Build thread to finish it up. Now to find somethings to add to make it an even bigger piece of eye candy. In the meanwhile, here are some few photos of the finished research tank and crew. Pics: ( Click to enlarge )

Good morning!
I'm on the lookout for a working Barrel Brace for this brute. I have found a WWII Dushka MG on Shapeways. Very intricate and pleasing to the eye and did I mention intricate? As long as it is strong enough to withstand bumps and bangs it should work fine. Chains I have and stowage as well as one crew figure shipping and one arrived. Enough to get started with. Firstly, some bounce needs to be taken out of the barrel. Dave! Thanks again, Doc! Yes, I am starting to see why tracks are run slack on this type of tank. Clearance for rocks!

Evening, Painless.
Even with the nervous barrel, this model ticks all the right boxes. It sounds absolutely brutish and imposing ( with sound effects not unlike the sounds we'd expect from a Clark unit , It handles well on the chippings (notwithstanding the nervous proboscis), and really, really looks the part.
I'd have to agree that Taigen has pulled out all the stops with this offering. It must be their best to date.
Is there any way the barrel can be dampened internally? Would a stick-on weight help, for example? It could be that the gun is out of balance on its trunnions/pivots. Lately, I've been reading about how weights were added to the (real) 17-Pounder to balance it for tank use; much in the way that folk do when setting up their flying models.
Cheers,
Roy.

Good morning, Roy!
I've spoken to a knowledgeable sort shortly after I made the video and it was suggested that I used a foam rubber washer on the trunnions to stiffen up the balance point. Failing that, a spring mount ala' Tamiya ( of which I have a couple floating around ) or a weighted barrel may be the way to go. Things to do!

I use foam under my trunnions to dampen any barrel “Parkinson’s” and it does help.
I assume the system is still the standard Taigen all in one elevation/recoil unit?
Adding foam under the pivot point should help.

Where would you exactly put the foam when speaking of trunions?
