Cut the fixed hatches off the top of the turret and made them openable

Started wiring things up. Wayne you'll need a hull connector and the taigen wiring kit from Forgebear as it also has a volume control in it (if you need it).

Designed a turret motor mount - also useful for anyone who wants a mount for a heng long turret motor

So many members have expressed a desire for a Chieftain I am trying to do this build in simple steps so more members can have a go and build themselves a Chieftain. Admittedly they will need access to a 3d printer and a certain amount of scratchbuild skill, but I'm no genius, there are plenty of members on this forum with far better skills than mine, so I'm trying to create something than anyone can take on without having any cad skills. With the price of the creality printer being much lower than a lot of RTR tanks then this becomes a viable option for anyone willing to give it a go.

Once someone has taken the plunge and built their first tank, then there are other tanks they can progress to such as Wibblys Gorilla.

Hi Alwyn ,I Think you have done a cracking job so far, I too own a cr10 3d printer bought it for my present project, I didn't have any cad experience when I started the project , I would like to point out that there is loads of free cad programmes on the internet, I must have downloaded at least 6 before finding one which was easy for me, some you write in code some you draw item ,as having been an engineer for years I chose a drawing type cad because I found it simple to do drawings . So for all you guys thinking should I buy one the answer is yes , but first find a cad programme you can use , having said that there are loads of stuff free to print on the web, so you can use the printer even if you cant do complicated parts , I can draw simple parts in a few minutes print them and have them ready usually in less than an hour ready to fit(more complicated parts take a little longer). So if you want a chieftain and can do the scratch build the parts on here go for it. Best thing I have bought for ages for model making.

regards pete

One of the last bits for the turret is the reel for the side of the turret. I have no idea whether it's water, fuel, or a power lead.

Still things to do on the lower hull, I need to strip it and paint it, but it's coming together
