Here's how I'm doing the track
Image
I'm trimming off the little winglets on the KV1 track which gives the correct scale size for the Chieftain. All I have to do now is design and print a sprocket ...... 8O

I just finished designing and printing the wheel

The wheel design is in 5 parts - tyre (print in TPU), wheel (print 2 of), spacer (to separate the two wheel sides), spindle, and wheel cover.

Here's what the printed version of the suspension and wheel looks like (minus the tyres - I haven't printed them yet)

Have fun!

Quick question, are you using an existing lower hull or scratch building one from styrene etc?

Scratch building and it's already underway, just needs reinforcing as it's a bit flimsy as it's only 2mm thick at the moment. I'll probably put another 2mm inside to firm it up and add some cross bracing as it's long and narrow.

If anyone wants the dimensions then happy to copy the drawings I've made.

Gentlemen I give you the Chieftain (using KV1 Heng Long plastic track) sprocket

I have tested the sprocket fit on the track, and I'm just printing it at the moment so then need to check it and confirm fit on the track and gearbox, then pretty it up to look like the Chieftain sprocket, and I'll publish the design.

Obviously I will need the long shaft gearboxes for his build so I must get some ordered from Forgebear as they are currently out of stock.

Just the idler and return roller to do
