Looking good Mr. Bix
I Like the hot screw driver zimmerit and how you covered damage areas when applying the XF-60. I would have forgotten to do this and painted everything, then kicked myself afterwards :lolno:

I always thought that XF-60 was correct by itself for Dunkelgelb. Are you correcting for sun fade? Or, is it just not quite right out of the bottle.
Allegedly it is correct out of the bottle, for 1:1 scale. I tried it on a scrap HL hull and at 1:16 it looked way too dark and green. Most folks I've seen compensate for that by mixing in Tamiya buff, I did it on my Panther A and it still maintained enough green tinge to pass as correct for me - more so than the German tanks ive seen lately in modelling magazines, where it looks like straight Tamiya buff.

The XF-60 for me is very very good out of the bottle.
I tend to use a heavy wash and lots of pigments on my tanks, so the dark yellow darkens a lot.
This one is really about covering the lower hull and running gear area with paint I had handy, knowing it would be darkened considerably once finished, so the lightened shade was going to be ok.

I didnt really need to apply the yellow at this time, but somehow the smell of paint is irresistible.

The Panzer putty is a mask as Mr Ram says. I have had it for 2 years but never needed it.
Thats an oversight on my behalf...........................it is without doubt the easiest and most reliable & versatile mask I have ever used.
And yes, the number of damage patches of Zimmerit I have on this thing, I'm lucky I have it :haha:
In fact, part of my confidence to place so many damaged areas was just because I knew I had this stuff.

Time will tell if I can pull it off.

Glad to see some more progress boss, and that clear coat darkening the basecoat actually answers a question I've been worrying about lately.
What question would that be Mr Ram ?
My sealant is really good, no frosting etc common with other products.
I know how it impacts on the paint I use, so the effect is easy to see for me.
The camo on this is going to have 3 facets/differing patterns, so I need to think carefully before rushing in to get it done.

Got the damn wheels on the damn lower hull finally :/
I bunged the tracks on it just to inspire and motivate.
He looks ok.........

Its got nothing secured yet, the upper hull is loose to the lower, and the turret is floating on the deck.
Things seem to sit right though.

The suspension and converted roadwheels are far from perfect, but will do.

Electrics may be an IBU2 board from my Jagtiger which will be swapped with the set I got from Mr Ram which has an amp & dual speakers.
OR, a Taigen V2 set if they ever arrive here :/

Thanks lads.............I keep telling myself its not a race :eh:
The Tamiya King Tiger beckons :shifty: :shifty:

I will be getting on with the internals now, locating switches etc.
Control board is still not certain, but I can prep the inside for its arrival at least.
I might even do the camo against the way I always do a tank :

- Running gear
- Lower hull
- Internals
- Upper hull & turret
- camo
- track paint & fit.
-weathering etc.

This KG Fallingbostel Tiger (thats what I reckon the 'F' is for-not Fehrmann)is going ok, but a bit slower than planned.
