FastMike Gears

Post by c.rainford73 »

Has anyone seen or used these setup in thier models?

I found them accidentally on thingverse and eBay. They come assembled or in kit form. They allow you to use stock motors or 540 motors.Image

Seems like an interesting way to use a different style gearbox in your tank.

Thanks ImageImageImage

Do you have a link to them? I am wondering how he has set up the internals, I am assuming it is bevel gears and bearings?

Very interesting bit of kit, it's impressive how powerful they are given the compact size. I guess the tradeoff there is how loud they are, though:

I watched that video a few days ago, I think if he had run the tank on carpet the sound level would have been much lower. Plastic tracks on tiles will always be loud. A tank with plastic gearboxes is very quiet, but the racket from the tracks in the video is what is making most of the noise.

I looked at the site, I maybe wrong but it seems that the gear ratio is the same as a standard HL. I am wondering how a lower ratio might be achieved?

Looks like there's another version coming which will gear down to a more realistic speed.

Also it was running with the body off which would also have reduced a lot of the noise if it had been fitted.
It is the price that I am most interested in,
Shaun.
