I really need to take the plunge and get a good airbrush s very interested in this topic
Re: Budget airbrush to Iwata
I started out on a cheap, single action airbrush, then graduated to a Testors, went through several cheap Chinese jobs, then got smart and bought an Iwata HP-CS. It's like stepping out of a Mini and into a Rolls. Easy to use, easy to clean (I have the handle kit that allows it to act as a single action and also has a quick release for the needle), and very comfortable in your hand. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other brand but Iwata.
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

Dont have an Iwata, but been super happy with my 0,3 and 0,2 sparmax gun's and the 610 compressor. Just picked up the Ammo to give it a go.

Re: Budget airbrush to Iwata
I started with a budget airbrush set-up from Aldi. After a bit of use the seals died, and I could have faffed about trying to find replacements - might have been possible, as I'm sure the budget ones are just Chinese knock-offs. I went for an Iwata HP-CR and it is just beautiful. The action is so much better and it doesn't splatter.
My existing Aldi compressor, water trap and hoses work just fine, although I am aware the Aldi gear gets hot when spraying for a long time. 1/32 work is no problem, but 1/16 jobs are done in stages, just do a section (e.g. hull or turret) at a time.

Re: Budget airbrush to Iwata
Well I’ve ordered a HP-CS I’ll let you know how I get on when it comes, But having moved to Wales on the edge of snowdonia National Park yesterday at the present time I don’t have a workshop so today I’ll be ordering a 18x10 19mm T&G workshop so I just hope it’s big enough then I can start fitting it out , Regards Andy
