Waltersons 1:24 scale T34-85

Post by RobW »

Picked this up from Dave (Forgebear) at the weekend. Very detailed, drives well (if quite slow - probably about right for scale speed) and full sound. I've yet to try the IR battle system out, but could be an easier way for people to have a go. Currently there's a P4, Tiger (which is scarily similar to the full metal Taigen one - if you saw the pics it'd be hard to tell them apart), Sherman & the T34. The box suggests that King Tiger (both turrets), US modern thingy, German missile truck, T34-76 (which I may need for comparative purposes), Firefly & a couple more are coming.

I've not opened it up yet. Runs fine on carpet & up slight slopes, not sure how it would cope with grass. It's also heavy for the size so must be a fair proportion of metal inside. 6 AA batteries in the tank, 4 in the controller.

Comes with a commander, spare track links & aeriel (which wasn't needed).

They're also quite easy to sneak into the house.....

Likewise, always good to put a face to a forum ID. We do meet most months, think it's Saturday Feb 3rd for the next one.

Given they're much the same functionality as the bigger ones (and equal in detail) it's to be expected that the price is similar. But, they're also IR so could be a good way into battling for some. If they bring the rest of the range out I can see getting at least one more.....

Update on the review. On messing with the cables in the battery tray, the AA tray slides aft & drops out leaving space for a 6*1 AA battery pack. No force required....
