Re: Delays on IBU2U

Post by Lotuswins »

Great, thanks all for the help in posting the video. Also, I have been fiddling with the tank a bit and added a relay so I can use the airsoft mode 1 (mechanical recoil) which initiates sound/recoil at the end of the airsoft windup. The relay is picked up when the airsoft mode is not selected (a switch on channel 5 of the receiver), and the gun function is pressed (negative pulse on the 'gun' pin of the turret connector). The relay contact then parallels the airsoft contacts to the board to initiate recoil and cannon sound. I thought it would speed things up a bit, eliminating the delay but I'm not sure it was effective as it still seems slow to fire.

I did this on my Taigen KV-1 tank which is basically stock, and the relay will pick up when the airsoft switch in the turret is off and the elevation stick is pushed forward. The normally open contact on this relay, which parallels the contacts on the airsoft unit will close, momentarily, initiating the cannon sound and recoil (along with IR LED). So I can IR battle with sound and recoil but no airsoft pellet.

thanks, jerry

Hi Jerry in the video it appears that the switch is tripped on the radio and then pulled back again and the recoil mechanism activates, am I correct?

Just checking as it looks like it took two functions to trigger the recoil tracks pulling back. It was a short video so I've watched it several times to try and figure it out.

If you fire by directly pulling the stick on the left or right toward the fire main gun position is it also delayed?

On my IBU2U in the Js-2 it's immediately fired once I pull the stick. Something must be amiss.

What servo recoil setup are you using ?

The first flick of the switch was apparently too quick for the board to recognize, so on the second flick I held it longer so it would fire. I don't have a servo barrel recoil, just track recoil set as below:

Here is my .ini file since you couldn't download mine I uploaded:

Hi Jerry. I figured you didn't have barrel recoil now it makes sense . I saw the track recoil and now I see this in your file....

TrackRecoilSpeed=25;Value range 1 - 100 (%) set track recoil speed

What I did notice is your track recoil speed is set at 25% has this been changed? I've limited mine to enhance the servo gun recoil but in your case it might make sense to speed it up.

Are you OK with the volume and static issues I see the master volume is still set at 100% or it's OK and you have accomplished fixing this? I set mine at 70% if that helps.

Oh, yes, it is delayed if I set the 'GUN' on the 9x to 100 percent and move the elevation (left stick) forward fully (like a stock tank). I have the switch on the transmitter programmed to give 100 percent gun elevation. I compared another tank with the IBU2 base to this one, and the IBU2U is definitely slower by about 1/2 second or so. It just seems slow to react to receiver input.

Sorry, yes my volume is now at 70%, I just haven't corrected the stored file on my computer which is what I posted.

On the track recoil speed, I did fiddle with that since my wheels on this tank are all ball bearing, and no rubber on the wheels so it is very free wheeling. So I lowered the track recoil speed to minimize it rolling backwards yet still had some recoil.

Try adjusting it back to a more aggressive setting and see if the recoil speed is more responsive. It maybe more responsive when recoiling. Image
