Re: New Hooben T-55 tank on the way - at last
None of the 3rd party boards come with a receiver. That comes with the transmitter. I am OK with replacing Heng Long electrics, but I think it best to leave it to others with Hooben kit.

So the kit comes with everything you need for elevation recoil and rotation, rotation is a motor rotation unit like tamiya or Henglong. Elevation and recoil are servo. Servos are included in the kit.
All you need is a control board, speaker, reciver and transmitter and a Henglong wiring kit. If you want a flash you can use the Henglong high tension flash or an led flash (3 or 5mm led on a standard two wire HL plug).
If you're feeling fancy you can wire up all the lights.
If you go Clark you'll need the programing reciver and TV remote.

Any Sony tv remote can be used, you don't need the Clark one.
To program it you do need to either install an IR battle system (the sensors pick up the signal from the remote), or you can make a simple single sensor with one led that will do the same job. This can be unplugged when you are done. The instructions are on the Clark site and it would take about 2 minutes to make.
What you 'will' need is the 5 pin plug so that you can plug either of the above into the TK board. If you don't have an HL flash, then it is always wise to buy the two small 2 pin plugs and the 5 pin with the board. That way you can install a muzzle flash using a high intensity led, an IR emitter, and a battle system.
If you go the IR battle system route you will need four sensors and an IR emitter.
This guide will explain it all, it is nothing like as complicated as it looks.

So no glowing reports of this build, i get it... I went to PDFcrowd to keep your pages for reference. My guess is, Hooben is an Asian knock-off and well satisfied with their niche or else the tanks would be turn-key.Ad Lav wrote:viewtopic.php?f=41&t=22738&hilit=T55
My build using upgrades and elmod.
Good luck with the build.
Nice choice, Iraqi armor scheme... I lusted for the Hooben for years. The process you set forth so eloquently is exactly the reason I always put it on the back burner. It may take me half a year but I'll do it since there is no other R/C model of it anywhere else.

Exactly my reason for persevering with the T55! Great looker and runner but takes a bit of head scratching and upgrades to get there.
