Here's some pictures of the 1/48th scale aircraft I've been working on lately. These are ones that I worked on the missiles when I was in the Air Force.

49th FIS bird with 2 WSEM's. Weapon System Evaluator Missiles. These do not launch, but record signals on photographic paper.

5th FIS A model. The stripes denote it as the Squadron Commanders aircraft.

Wait, those are models?
They're not the real thing?

Beautiful models, and a terrific achievement  :O A question: if you're manning the remote controls, who's taking those pin sharp pics (with fast shutter speed and telephoto.)?... :D...and you'd also need Shiva's arms to manage two models :D

Yep.

Models.

1/48th scale, to be exact. It was a nice afternoon, so I decided to try and get some pictures against the sky. Took a step ladder out to the side walk and found a spot with fairly few trees and power lines, then set it up. Just placed the stands on top of the ladder, then stood on the sidewalk and used the camera on my phone. I've got it set to a lower resolution, so I didn't even have to resize the pictures to get them to upload to the forum.

I thought that the pictures looked pretty good, but the stands and tree tops just blew the illusion. So, a bit of tinkering around in MS Paint, and "Bob's your uncle"!

Here's a couple of before and after comparison.

And after.

Another before.

The kits did come out pretty good, but I think it's the flying pose that really sets them off. A tank looks best when it's in the dirt and covered with mud, so it stands to reason that a plane just looks better at home, in the air.

You almost had me! Great job photographing your models!
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!

I'm a happy man. 8)

So maybe I should have kept the "how to" to myself? :haha:

I did come up with a few new things to try on my next outing. Thanks for all the great comments!

Very nice indeed!

I think the "Six Shooter" is the best looking delta wing design on all time.
