Asking for some opinions regarding Tiger 1
Asking for some opinions regarding Tiger 1
1. 105mm l68 gun <- do you all prefer 105mm or 88mm? Then with of without muzzle brake? Also which type? The current one used by 88mm or the pepper pot type?
2. King tiger sprockets/wheel/tracks. Do you think it will look nice? I like it because its even wider than tiger 1 tracks. So less likely to get stuck in mud.
3. Special composite armour. Assuming germans created it, now they cant have rounded surfaces. So, tiger 1 turret will not be rounded. It will consist of flat surfaces. Turret lengthen to accomodate 105mm or long 88mm gun. Thats how the turret will look like. Not sure if its nice though.
4. Reactive armour. Germans adding square pieces on armour onto turret and hull. Again, do you think it will look nice?
5. Increased in armour. Mantlet will be flat with much thicker armour and a small machine gun tube wiill protrude out instead of just a hole. 1 hole for gunner sight. Upper glacis will be thicker as well. Driver view remains but no more machine gun port for radio operator.
6. Removal of feifel filters (tank looks better with or without the filter?). Some tools like wooden block shifted to rear. Less tools on tank to cut cost (they assume tanks will not be alone so not everthing tank needs complete set). My excuse to reduce clutter on the tank.
7. Return to early cupola. Late cupola requires lots of glass blocks which is expensive to make. Which cupola do you prefer? Early or late?
8. Germans ran put of paint (poor excuse). So everything is painted in german grey only. I played wot and quite like the grey colour of the tanks, if not dark yellow.. Also i dont know how to paint (complete noob) so an excuse to spray everything in just 1 colour. Please dont laugh at me.
Why i prefer tiger 1 over tiger 2 is mainly due to design. I feel tiger 2 is more of a bigger version of panther. Germans copied it from t34. Not exactly original. Tiger 1 is truely german design. Also my current atempt has nothing to do with real history and not trying to make it look anything close to the real tiger 1. Its nothing more than my own imagination of how i think tiger tank could be souped up for bigger gun and more armour. I also imagine that germans are low on resources on the engineers created the new tiger with whatever they could find (imagine lack of tiger 1 parts so retrofit tiger 2 parts onto tiger 1)

Re: Asking for some opinions regarding Tiger 1
I really like the what if stuff... I even want to make some kind of 1946 retro futuristic mechs, so go and figure out, lol.
1) I´d put the 88... But do you know what? I'd install two paralel cannons. Why not?
2) Yeah, King tiger tracks are great.
3,4,5) All the things you are going to add are cool.
6) Instead of removing accesories, I'd put as many as I can. I like the look of a true survivor with tons of pillaged stuff.
7) I like both cupolas, I might choose the early one because I like how it looks with the hatch open. But you might install both, why not? Side by side, or one over the other...
Grey is COOL. If you put some details in red too it would look like and evil machine.
What if and retrofutirism are one of the coolest things in earth:

Re: Asking for some opinions regarding Tiger 1
For your questions:
1. I'd go with the 105mm main gun - the IS-2 and 3 had 122mm main guns, but had horrible gun depression and reload speeds. If you want to match the caliber of the guns, then I'd say it's better if you go ahead and stick the 120mm on there without the muzzle brake.
2. I suppose putting a KT spec propulsion system would help, considering they were pretty resourceful at that - but the problem with that is that they were so large that they could be hit and easily disabled.
3. No composite armour. You might want to stick a rounded turret there, because that's what the Ruskies were doing, but then again - you'll have some problems with sticking that big 120 or 105 in there.
4. YES. LIKE THE T-72.
5. That's fine - but it'll be better if the mantlet had a sort of pike, so it didn't bounce shells directly into the weak upper hull like the Panther did. Those Russian 122's could kill anything, and the Comet's sabot rounds could disable quite a bit if it went through. Plus, you wouldn't want the armour to be too thick because that'll reduce the turret traverse speed.
6. Makes sense, I suppose.
7. Mm - stick with the one they put on the KT.
8. I can't paint too well either - do you use an airbrush? I'd consider painting the tank in an Allied Olive Drab - just for the giggles.
By the way - there was a Tiger prototype designed by Porsche that did what you want to do. I think it had 230mm of armour on the front, and performed like a Porsche in reverse gear. I wonder if there was a Vichy French engineer who put that in there. xD
I really want to see how this comes along regardless of the decisions you make - it sounds like fun.
Good luck!

If I remember correctly, they're reminiscent of what a game called War Thunder did as an April fool's event:Son of a gun-ner wrote:Rad, those walking tanks are awesome![]()
Mick.
Walking tanks with a KV-2 turret and gun, with a secondary 50mm secondary gun, and lots of machine guns. They walked really funny.
Steel Battalion also did something similar - real good stuff.

Those walking tanks are Nerf Terradrone toys that you can buy at ebay for 40 bucks.
Of yourse you need to transform them into wathever you want.

Any more cool pics like these? Show 'em!

1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!
I'm a happy man.

I'd say more like the 128mm gun from a Jagdtiger.
