walter wrote:Hello Juergen,
reading your introduction you are right into scratch building 1/16 scale tanks. Very nice photo of your Jagdtiger. You mentioned you build it all in aluminium. And it looks like you used scale material thickness. Which makes it very interesting to me, because I build a 1/16 scale Tiger2 all in aluminium and the smaller parts in brass. All up my Tiger2 weighs 15 kg. As a tank controller I used an Elmod Pro and had problems steering the tank. Mainly turning it would blow the fuse. Elmod was responsive but stated their controller was not designed for such heavy tank. Quite a disappointment for such a expensive controller. In frustration I bought A Clark TK22 and so far it works well. As a gear box I use a Taigen Seies 3 5/1 which I am very happy with. I would like to know what you are using.
Regards Walter

A good thing I was sitting when I checked out your 'Giesswork' link, Jürgen. The tracks may be made of rostfrei stainless steel, but they cost an arm and a leg.. 8O :O .
http://www.giesswerk.de/english-web-pag ... -1-16-1-5/
Given parity between the Pound and the Euro, for practical purposes, tracks for a Tiger 1 are over £900, and almost £900 for the King Tiger...
Now that's what i call dedication to the modelling cause :thumbup: ... 8O

@Walt,
I did not weigh the tank... I guess about 10kg when finished.

@43rdRecceReg
yes, the Tracks are very very expensive...
But the tank is supposed to have the best tracks available
The tracks made of cast brass not stainless steel.

Ah, yes. I read the extra details in haste. The pins are made of high grade stainless steel, and not the tracks. Thinking it over, though, if you wish to build a tank to rival Aeromate, or the new Heng Long 1/6th all metal wonder, you might as well have bespoke tracks, irrespective of cost :think: :thumbup:
