Gary I know if anyone can make this happen it's you. I hit a major snag with one of my builds last night so I know how much its a pain in the @ss. Is it the c clips that are popping off? Can you post some detailed close up pictures. I'm sure someone on this for can come up with a brilliant idea. Are the clips too soft? Are the grooves too deep or too shallow? I'm just trying to energize your "hippie brain". Image

Can the Axels be removed and new ones machined and utilized?

Keep up the hard work. It will pay off.
Tanks alot....

Even nitrided steel used in performance car crankshafts can be ground, Gary. Surely, something should be capable of putting a cut in this? Can the arms be heated up and the axels pressed out, if need be? Pity the axels are not longer, as you could try drilling the end and fitting a split pin instead (like a cotter pin). Just some thought. Nil desperandum..

OK, sorry about my earlier post, but given all I do to promote our hobby I'd say I'm entitled to the occasional childish outburst, eh? Anyway, I got it sorted. I can drill the axles fairly easily, it's just too hard for such a small tap so i'm going to drill holes and use panel bond (like JB Weld, but even stronger) to hold some threaded rod in there. Then I'll have a stud and it should work just fine. I'll keep ya posted, and thanks for all the support.

OK, we have sounds. The IBU will also give me lights, proportional smoke, machine gin sound and flash for the MG34, and if I'm lucky I can use the elevation servo for something cool, like turning the TC's head via the left joystick.

Judging by the neatness of the interior, ( ) Gary, it's easy to tell you have some Teutons in the Tree. :D Glad the despair has been given a serious and prolonged 'timeout'; I'm sure we've all experienced those impasse moments.
One benefit of having such a generous amount of space available in the Hetzer, even after it has been fully 'tooled-up' for action, is that on days out you can stow your drinks (or other recreational supplies) and sandwiches in there too.

Hey, Roy. Right you are. I'm proud to say that I'm first generation German-American on Mom's side (she was born in Hamburg) and second gen on Pop's (both his parents were born in Germany, but he was born here).

Makes one wonder how I ended up with a truly English last name. Long story, but the short version is that the paternal Gramps was an orphan after WWI and was adopted by a nice British family. Well, maybe not so nice, since he ran away at 13 and never looked back. Maybe if they had been Scots things might have worked out better? @) :/ :haha:

Funny you should mention storage of recreational items. I was thinking about an ammo rack, but instead of scale 75mm shells it would hold these funny white tubes, of the hand rolled variety. And for me it's even legal. @) @)

 - Way to go Gary , more progress . As for that broken Tap , be very careful ! if you can , try a punch and break it it into chips and work the bits out. - Do you know anywhere that does metal spark erosion ? * Look up Electrical discharge machining (EDM) - also called a metal disintegrator . Not cheap , but safe . Onwards and upwards Gary !
All the best , B.

We have a place that does EDM work for us but as far as I know the wire has to pass all the way through the part. He's always told us that he can't do blind holes.
