Panzer IV deluxe..but same old errors?
As alluring as the new Torro metal Pz IV (ausf F2/G) is, I couldn't buy one knowing that the rear upper deck should have an incline, and not be annoyingly, perfectly level.
Still, it looks nicely kitted out...and there's all that new metal too.
! I just wonder what size of fillet (in degrees) would have to be excised from both side of the rear plate to make the deck look as realistic as the Tamiya one does:
I've seen that bit of surgery performed here, but it's quite a different matter performing it on a tank of this value- some 460 euros currently.

Forgive my ignorance, what angled bit are you referring too?
Re: Panzer IV deluxe..but same old errors?
The rear engine deck area is sloped downward , it is hard to see on the Tamiya image but it is there , just.
Also notice on the Tamiya image the rearmost return roller is lower then the front three , this is correct , unlike the H/L.

Couldn't quite find the right pic to illustrate the grievance, Terry;jackalope wrote:Forgive my ignorance, what angled bit are you referring too?

Both Hermann Bix and I'm sure Frankie deal with fixing the rear deck in there H/L P4 build threads.
You can plainly see the problem then Jackelope.

I was looking for those references in the archives; but this contribution from Philipat in 2014 also shows the rear deck being lowered by some 3mm (scroll down to bottom of P1)

You would think they could at least correct the last return roller as to make that part correct for all the money they are asking. The thought of a mostly metal Panzer iv is quite interesting though

Tanks alot....

I'm holding out for a bit. Imex plans to have the rear return roller adjusted to the right location and they'll also have the winter tracks. I think that's worth the wait.
