Hi, My name is Chaz & I’m a greebaholic**.

At first I didn’t realize I was addicted to nurnies, even though I liked "B5" & "Star Wars". Then I started modeling 1/16 RC AFV’s & now I can’t stop!

At first it was innocent enough, I added extra “stuff” to a perfectly well finished M26, then I progressed to making extra stuff for the extra stuff from other stuff. Then I got more addicted! I couldn’t pass a bin of straws, knives, forks & spoons at fast food places. Even toothpicks & Q-tips weren't safe from my pillaging!

Today I hit rock bottom!

I ran out of stuff, so I ordered more from China & it wasn’t even for my tank, but for a Sherman!
I only did it for the field packs, pioneer tools, commander & Ma Deuce, I was going to donate the rest to starving modelers who spent the Doritos allowance on glue, paint & so on. Honestly!
Then it happened without warning!

I looked at the plastic wrap the accessories came packed in & BOOM! Tarpaulins to scale!
Sigh
I’m doomed!
(If you look really, really carefully you'll see the coax .30 muzzle just peeking out of the mantlet!)

I actually googled the word to see what it meant! Now I have to google "nurnies" to see what the hell that means!
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

So how are nurnies different from details?

Greebles are physical details, frequently repurposed from something else.
Nurnies are pretty much the digital imaging equivalent.
The earliest recorded use of the term "greeble" found to date was by those working on the special effects for Star Wars — the group who would later become Industrial Light and Magic. They also described this design method as "guts on the outside".

Ron Thornton is widely believed to have coined the term "nurnies" referring to CGI technical detail that his company Foundation Imaging produced for the Babylon 5 series.[1]
I remember one of the "sports" of going to see Star Wars was figuring out which model kit they'd stolen bits from to make the "Millennium Falcon". The original Star wars was made on a shoestring budget so just about anything went. I remember the refueling tankers were pneumatic drill compressors they'd rented for example.
