Snow Gepard

Hi,

I got back from holiday just as the snow was melting and took this evening shot. Since then the Gepard has grown a bit more detail.

Before anybody jumps on me from a great height, I know the spare track hangers are wrong 
Eventually it will represent the later version, hence the later type muzzle brakes and laser illuminator.

Contains 57 ball races,  8 cells,  metal tracks,  2 speed gearbox,  full sounds,  lighting,  front radar tracks with guns,  rear radar rotates, elevates and stows.

Hi Its looks very very nice would love to see a video of it in action that radar gearbox looks like it was fun to build .

Looks really good Peter. I've got a Leopard 1 A-something knocking around somewhere. An '80s Tamiya kit. I keep promising myself to get it fully functional and up to date like your Gepard.

If you keep posting pics like those I just might...

A Gepard was not on my "build list" but this was on offer boxed and complete with the Kenny Kong tracks & modern gearbox for 225 quid. What would you do????

Unfortunately the plastic bits had already been started by the superglue fairy. I had to strip most of it but some parts would just not separate. So I thought "why not rebuild and update"

Its been one of the most interesting tanks I've built to date, and there is still a lot more technology to add. It needs a second sound module for the auxilliary engine so that I get the sound of it revving when the turret turns or the guns elevate. This will also give me more outputs from the Benedini module for additional lighting or other effects.

The rear radar was a pain in the posterior! One motor/gear train is standard Tamiya for radar rotation, the other is for elevation/stowage and is cobbled together out of various gears etc. There is a complex bit of electronic wizardry consisting of microswitches and various other bits to make it work properly (and sometimes it even does). I could have bought the bits to do it properly, but that costs money!

As usual with my models it is poorly painted, but I really don't care. I'm having a lot of fun with it and that is whats important to me.

It would be nice to see an updated early Leo running with it. I would like to do one myself, but I'm saving my money for a T55 (come on Hooben, where is it??)

Great looking Gepard, its always nice to see something different now and then and this is a good example, great work

Thanks Keith. I always like to be a bit "different". My Panther is in olive drab with big white stars on the turret, Sherman is Israeli, T34 is Egyptian and when Hooben decide to release the T55 mine will be a T54 in grey. (Hungarian uprising 1956).
