Uprated lower hull for Heng Long Tiger 1

Post by welshdragon »

New stock of the Tiger 1 lower hulls has arrived at Welsh Dragon Models.  Incorporating a metal chassis with pre-fitted torsion bar suspension, this is probably the best upgrade available to date for the HL Tiger 1.

Price on eBay is £89.99, but these can be purchased through our shop for £85, and forum members qualify for their 2.5% discount (please contact us if you don't already have the discount code to use at checkout, quoting your forum ID).

Hi Pete,

There are some forum postings about these from other members with quite a lot of info and generally very favourable comments.

Hi Steve Have seen the posts you are talking about and its the best mod going for the Tiger 1 will have to consider either doing this or waiting for the Sherman and KV1 to arrive .Almost finished my Firefly conversion then have my Stug III to finish had to rob parts to do the Firefly. So if they havnt arrived when these jobs are done will be doing another Tiger 1 or Jagdpanther or Pershing .

Got to say it but it looks very similar to the Tamiya chassis so why not just buy Tamiya parts to convert your Heng Long it will probably work out less than the copy

Because this fits HL and Matorro's like a glove. No hacking needed, just unscrew the unsatisfactory OEM chassis and bolt one this on.
Not all of us are expert scratch builders or have the necessary tools to perform said miracle ;D
I'm very happy with the chassis I obtained for my Matorro based 101st sSS PzAbt Tiger 212, and I'll be getting another for my Matorro Sturmtiger just as soon as my finances allow...

I have one of these, what works in its favour is that:

It all comes preassembled.
It comes with a new rear panel, complete with accessories.
Metal front drive sprocket supports.
Full torsion bar suspension.
Metal base for gearboxes.
Rear idler adjusters (mine work perfectly).
Flat styrene base complete with mounts for boards.
Metal undertray.
All metal suspension supports.
Flat internal base all the way to the back so no battery compartment to get in the way.
Quick release top hull, so instant access to internals/battery.
Room to fit aftermarket speaker.

These are not mofified HL Hulls, they are purpose designed, and higher quality.

As has been said, they are the best upgrade you can fit to a Tiger. It would be impossible to build anything to this standard by buying the components seperately, just compare the cost.

PS - On the way are Panzer, Stug and Jagdpanther hulls, supposed to be out in the summer.

does the battery slide in underneath as per the HL original or do you need to sort out a mod on the deck/rear panel to recharge your battery/take it out?

the upper hull comes off completely via a quick release and the battery is strapped down inside the lower hull
