It snowballs

Post by Cappy »

Just got my second tank, Heng Long Sherman. It's a 27Mhz FM model and I'm wondering where do I put the receiving antenna? Is this where it goes? Image if so how the hell do you get it on?

Yes cappy, just pushes on or should do, its quite a tight fit to get it on there but you wouldnt want it flying off while driving it :D make sure that the antenna on the radio is fully extended while using it to as the 27mhz doesn't have great range,

Regards, Lee.

It actually looks a little different to the norm , every H/L antenna I've had , has a spring base , this looks like a solid base?
Don't get your panties in a bunch , we still got hand weapons and the fifty!

Also I have found that the retaining nut for the battery cover screw has come loose and is probably somewhere in the body. Can't secure the battery in place at the moment. :(

Using a twisting motion (like putting a nut on a bolt) as you press down the spring part of the antenna can help to get the antenna started on the brass stud for the first time. Then try to push it the rest of the way down. If it still seems to not be willing to slide on just use the twisting motion until the antenna is all the way on.

All sorted now and looking good. This will be my first Tank that I would like to modify and tinker with.

I'd like to convert it from 27MHz to a 2.4 GHz system and improve the sound and smoke at the same time. So how do I go about doing this and will it be expensive?

Afternoon cappy, it's quite easy to change it to the 2.4ghz system, if you would like to keep it fairly standard you can buy a new 2.4ghz control board and transmitter off one of the trusted vendors on this site  it's just a case of putting the new board into your tank and it's basically plug and play just a straight swap, or you could go a bit more expensive way such as an ibu or clark board etc but you would have to change some wiring then and also buy a separate transmitter to operate it, HTH

Cheers, Lee.
