As some of you saw in the "show off" section, my gloss black R/C 1/16th Tamiya M4 Sherman was
terrible. The build was great but the painting ruined it.
So... I am not the type to quit. I listened to the seasoned builders and decided to not jump into the
Leopard 2A6 1/16th scale Tamiya R/C until I get better and learn how to use all the products that I can
use to give the model a "real" look.
I have a compressor, so I went a got a Paasche single action airbrush.
I will practice on some card stock and use a 1/35th scale 2A6 non R/C as a test build.

I am going to post just the before and after build. I know this is a R/C site so I won't fill it up with
a lot of 1/35th plastic model build.
However... it might take a month or three to complete the 2A6 and before I dive into the
R/C 1/16 Tamiya expensive project, I am going to ask for an opinion (you guys are really honest)
and if it is thumbs down then I will think about continuing with this passion.

I am recovering from a terrible virus attack that took me off of the game board for a few months.
Building this tank really helps in my recovery.
I am a former hot rodder and just sold a Shelby AC Cobra after driving it for twenty years.
Now I roll in a 911 Carrera. Well... not driving yet and building these beautiful replicas of
Tanks is a good past time.

As the song goes: 'Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again..' (That tune might be a tad old for you, possibly). Anyway, hope the virus clears soon and you put the daubing disappointment behind you. I'm sure we've all had moments like that. At least you didn't take a sledgehammer to it, and put it beyond redemption .. You'll get plenty of support here, by the way, and any number of tales of frustration..or success.
Last year, I got to drive my son's sh*t -off-a- hot-shovel Carrera 4s on narrow swiss mountain roads : that was a real pant-filler. So, now you have something to aim for (not the suicidal Alpine roads, though) when the bug lets go of you.

Look man don't worry we ALL have made goof ups that we felt ...... hmmm.....not so great afterwards in having been involved with them. That said no one that I've seen has come here with their 1st attempt and blown us all away with their tank. There's definitely a learning curve, don't worry you'll get it.

Now that said I've read here that oven cleaner will strip the paint off plastic and not hurt the plastic. So why not start over with your Sherman?

I agree. Just start over with the Sherman . I haven't attempted to paint as yet. So you're definitely a step ahead of me. Although I know I will need to learn seeing as my next planned tank will be the Mato all metal panzers 3. Good luck and looking forward to pics.

I have looked at them online and really like them. If you know someone selling cheapish that would be wonderful. I don't want the bb function model tho. I was looking at the ones Mato Mart has.

Mate, don't forget there is a section in here called Tanks, that covers the 1/35th scale test-dummy builds etc etc.

Means do your practice versions and post them.
For me the biggest let down with anyone's build is one that is started but not finished.
Kind of leaves us hanging & frustrated like a fumbling first date in your mates borrowed car
