Yeah, I've seen it too. Back in '09
There is something about entering an active U.S. Military base at the time and being told in quite clear terms that the "use Of Deadly Force Is Authorised" within the base if you are up to mischief that adds to the significance of the event !!

Its a horrible repaint, and I have loads of pics of it, but as with all the APG exhibits, has suffered badly from the elements.
Looking at various period pictures there seems to be a lot of variation, but B&W pics can be deceptive.
I might do a test and see how the Gelb/Grun combo looks over my primer. That might help.

For the near future, its track tensioner, and running gear before much else.

Sir, after watching your King Tiger evolve into something to behold, you could do anything..............
I would say "get the Torro"
I believe they are correct in all aspects.
They are expensive-yes, thats why I have not gone & got one down here.
Trust me, you think they are costly up there..............you would shit yourself to pay the price down here :wtf:
With the exchange rate & postage its damn nigh 'fiscal prolapse'...........
As with Tamiyas = you do indeed get what you pay for in spades.
No way I can justify the outlay when I can buy a road legal car for the same cost. :O

There is no H/L Jagdtiger
The Matorro is a discontinued relic that should be an original collectable, not being hacked up like I have.
So the options are limited.

Outside of converting a H/L king Tiger as is currently being done, Torro is it.

Mine is always going to be nothing more than a converted Matorro, but it will be close to looking right, and certainly not owe me a months wage that I have to look my little ones in the face and try to put into real terms !!!!!
I honestly wouldnt know what to do with a tank that required no work at all.............. ;)
Thanks for the info/advice, this is just what I wanted to know  . If the premium for the Torro's is as bad as you say in your neck of the woods you truly have my sympathy - crikey, I dread to think what the Tamiya's go for - probably need a mortgage 8O

Herman, ever watch tank restoration? The Elephant they did was in the woods at Aberdeen for God only knows how long until a very good friend of mine while serving in the ARMY was doing a map reading class and stumbled on it. None of the brass at Aberdeen knew it was there, there was no paperwork on it, no one knew anything about it. It was hauled out of the woods and restored all thanks to Joe Benson.

They put a lot of effort into the railway gun there, looks like all the resources were soaked into it.
Shame that Jaques Littlefield couldn't have lived long enough to get his hands on the JT, now THAT would be a restoration !

That rail gun was actually 3 different guns put together to build 1. And it has no brakes or air system so it can't be moved by rail again. It is cool though!

Three eh, I thought it was the one they captured at Anzio.
Ive walked its deck, sure would have been a wild thing to be firing, let alone copping the contents at the other end.

Any help on the primer camo base lads ?
Sure is a tempting thing to try to pull off.
I found a subtle picture that seems to show one of the few JT's made destroyed(again by crew) that the paint is clean and fairly defined.
I reckon the primer under the guard line carries up the hull, so could be the gelb/Grun patches over it.
Have been reading many theories and possibilities on this and its just not conclusive.

Makes a sound argument though that using what little paint stock available to cover the dark oxide primer instead of re-coating the entire thing.
BUT, this could be a pic of the over all base Grun covered in dust and the under-guard transfer up the hull is green :/
The area around the '214 and same around the left spare track hook I reckon is the green, light patches Gelb(and the roadwheels) the rest is red primer.

I used red oxide primer, I figured that's what they used on the rest of the late war stuff so it should work for the JT as well. Gonna leave it that way unless someone pipes up here and says I'm wrong.

I need to break in on this thread for a Jagdtiger parts question. Recently, I found an aftermarket metal tow hitch for the Jagdtiger (like the one on the vehicle the Soviets captured and is now at Kubinka - only, the hitch was broken). The link to it is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/152157695218 I bought one an just received it today. It is very nice, but here is the problem - the real one was meant to bolt between the two cast exhaust guards; using the six inner studs that held the guards on. (I assume that they needed to replace the existing studs with longer ones). This metal hitch is just a little too wide to fit between the guards (which can be fixed by shaving down the sides of it a little) but the holes for the bolts do not match up with the studs on the exhaust guards. The distance from top-to-bottom hole on the part measures about 3/4", while the top-to-bottom distance on the bolts of the Tamiya exhaust guard measure about 15/16". I don't have a Torro or Matorro tank, so I cannot measure what the height of that distance on the exhaust guards is. Can anyone measure this. That way, if it is also about the same as the Tamiya part; I'm hoping I can keep anyone else from spending money on a part that doesn't fit. -Mike

Sass,
Just out of curiosity, have you checked the bolt height on a HL or Taigen King Tiger exhaust as well? Good luck, my friend. Those parts are made by An-Bri-RC and I don't know what kits he uses for Masters for his molds.
