I've had LOTS of requests for some updates on my fleet, troops, 251 Halftracks, and finally the 251 Halftrack that I'm R/Cing.
So here ya guys go, please if you have any questions ask away!
Tiger I's not shown due to space limitations of my table but there are 2 of them lurking around somewhere, probably in a wood line so be careful out there.
Here's some of my 251 R/C conversion in the works.
Ok here is the R/C version and the toy version side by side. Yes there is a difference in height and you'll see why in the further down you scroll. I chose to make it ride this high in order to give the truck as much suspension travel as possible.
NOTE; the R/C version DOES sit level the teeth on the track got under the road wheels so it looks like its leaning but it doesn't really.
Here's why the front end sits where it does, check out the travel on the front end!
Here's some shots of the Ludwig front suspension I'm using. Note the straight pins, I couldn't find screws any smaller then I already had.
Here's the rear track set up, I still plan to clean things up a bit and I'm also machining a track tensioner set up from aluminum bits just so I can take up some of the slack. If I remove 1 track link they're WAY too tight so track tensioner setup is on the way next.
SEE! It works!
And the toy, note nothing moves. But it is just a toy.
The front suspension tries....but compared to mine its full of fail!
And because no war can be won on the ground alone!
I know it doesn't exactly go with the rest of my collection but it looked so damn good I couldn't pass it up! Its HUGE compared to the rest of my planes, well except the Stuka its pretty big too.
Jack,
Amazing work on the 251, my friend. You've really made a ton of progress since last year on it. Your collection is to be admired and envied! ;o)
regards,
Painless
