IBU3
Re: IBU3
I’ve not yet tested the airsoft. I don’t have any airsoft tanks, so if I get chance I put something together from my spares box and test.
Yes the 16mb memory is fine for the regular tank sounds but I found once I loaded my first sound effect I had no more space available for another large sound. In the end I cut all four of the user sounds to 1 minute each and got them all loaded which still left about 2.5mb free (that’s including all the tank sounds installed). So I think 16mb is fine for most people, but not for people with mega long user sound effects. I’m not certain what impact to design or cost installing a larger memory would be.
Ian.

Re: IBU3
Hello Rad,
It's not possible to put big files into IBU2, it's possible to store big files on memory card but is different.
The IBU2 can manage only files with size limits of 1Mbyte so everything bigger is cutted out during playing, this means the maximum playing time is about 20 seconds (about 1 Mbyte)
The IBU3 can manage files without size limit (the only one is the memory size) so, subtracting the standard engine sounds (a couple of Mbytes) and the others sounds about 10 Mbytes left free.
10 Mbytes are quite enough for 200 seconds of sounds to be played.
It is possible to have twice the memory size but the costs will increase a lot.
The quality of sounds depends mainly from the management and basically the size is the same as IBU2, you can also use the IBU2 sounds if you want, simply converting in 16 bit format.
Airsoft works exactly as the IBU2
Cheers

Re: IBU3
Hi Ibuman. Im afraid even when you designed your board, you are not right. I discussed it with Tankbear a couple days ago. He sent me a 3.4mb 3 minutes or so audio file that we can play perfectly and I put a 8mb, 6.20 minutes audio file that I can play perfectly from the beggining to the end. I can send you the audio file if you want to take a look to it. Please double check it because the Ibu2Pro is much better than you, the designer think, which is a good thingtheibuman wrote:Hello Rad,

So it would be good if in some way we could at least have the same sound capacity on the newest board, otherwise it would be a big step back, at least for me. And about the airsoft... well, If it cant be fixed I`ll wait to the Tankbear´s tutorial to try to fix it his way.

Re: IBU3
Yeah the IBU2 does play files larger than 1mb with out noticable cutting.
The airsoft issue was brought up in another thread. Because the IBU2 didn’t use the micro switch airsoft users found it difficult to get the timings correct, so they hoped the IBU3 had resolved this.
It’s here if you want a read

Re: IBU3
Hello Rad,
I have a team in my plant that does the firmware and software development and take out from the Hardware all the functions.
The IBU2 development (including firmware) is under my control but it seems that lately they add some features and didn't reported to the boss ... and this is not good.
As far as i know there was a cut at 1 Mbyte, but i asked to one of the guy right now and confirmed the mod i wasn't aware, anyway tomorrow i planned a meeting with the guys and someone will be blamed for sure.

Re: IBU3
Im sorry to heard that... Blame him but just a bit, and tell him that is one of the features I love most from mi Ibu.
Returning to the IBU3, if upgrading the chip is too expensive maybe we can go back to the micro SD card, that's not a problem... Or maybe using the expansion port... Well you are the engineer here so you'll know better than me what to do if you want to have more memory too.

Re: IBU3
I downloaded "Windows 10" absolutely awful so back I went to "Windows 7",
Windows 10 is about as compatible with a mouse as the Sun is with an Iceberg
Will there be any problems interfacing between the IBU3 and Windows 7 ?
Shaun.

Re: IBU3
You can operate from computer but only by USB cable. Bluetooth only short range (10m I think) so probably no good for tank control. Wifi be nice if but if you thinking of controlling tank you need a camera, then a fpv setup on the controller might be a better solution.Kiaser wrote:Interesting just a quick question on the IBU3 , I would like to operate it from the laptop is it possible to incorporate wifi and Bluetooth connectivity .

Re: IBU3
Thank you IAN, The thing about Windows 10 is it is not really built for a PC much more for a laptop which of course is used quite differently, If, I emphasise IF I buy a Laptop then Windows 10 would be fine but right now "7" is where I am staying.
Yet again thanks for the speedy reply.
