Indeed, but ...and it's a little know factoid, that they preferred the 'retro' look of the British Mk !V: :haha: :haha:

I've always thought it was fascinating that the Germans were using a pair of WWI tanks in 1945-

Show how desperate they were towards the end.

I can't remember how I stumbled across those tanks. This time I just searched "MkV Tank Berlin".

On another site it said they were used as armoured machine gun bunkers.

When I first came across them I just thought of some poor Tiger crew getting these as replacements "Sorry it's all we have left"

Dear me, are you impugning the fighter mettle of the typical New Yorker then, General? :lolno: ...and dissing that casual, world-weary insouciance they display? Hmmm.. I saw some of that on a visit there many moons ago.... I went into a burger bar, and ordered, well..a burger.. but the look i got from the guy behind the counter read 'Here..make it yourself.. as I fully expected him to throw the ingredients at me.. But the SS trooper's response to the 'stand your ground order' most likely would have been 'Jawohl, mein Herr"!!!. !!! ...and that would have been followed by the 'Hitlergruss' (salute)..ah, but we do love our stereotypes, don't we? :haha:

They were probably 'gate guardians' originally. Still, if you were one of the ageing Volkssturm, or someone simply up to the eyeteeth with fighting, what better place would there have been to hide from the Russians, eh? :haha: No 'Ivan' would have expected to find anyone hiding in, let alone fighting from, one of those...

No Sir 43.....I'm just saying ;) ....Saying that I'd rather be in the open picking my shots than pinned in one of those ...what I consider to be pre made metal coffins :haha: ...to be ordered to make a last stand in one of those would be the equivalent of being a Kamakaze pilot locked in a Baka Bomb ;) ....No where to go ...not much area to hide....Just one big Target in the middle of a Courtyard :wtf:

Yup...if the only weapon I have is a rifle....I'd rather be in the open...where there is a wider variety of area where I could "choose" to take out an enemy ;)

So you'd rather take your chances out in the open with your Garand, then Mr A., well, I can understand the need for space, and the option to find other bolt holes..but how using your rifle from this? It looks like a tracked "portaloo" (portable toilet). It also has the advantage that if your guts are upset by all the strife..the Sturm und Drang.. you can at least relieve them!! :lolno: :lolno:
