What are the measurements of the new Mk4? I have a very old Mk2 which looks smaller. I'm tempted to stick one in a King Tiger since it has some space behind the speaker.

Thats the mk4 installed into the tiger. My solderings not the best but thats it connected without having to remove the gearboxes and tracks. The proportionality is great, i'm well happy with it.

I would somehow like to power it independently, maybe via a small lipo and a switch. I'd really appreciate idea's on how best to go about this

Thanks

Hi Mitchell,

Glad you got it soldered up okay.

For powering off a separate battery that is possible. Remove the white plug and add battery and a switch in the positive supply, just be carefull you don’t mix up the polerity as this could cause a dead short with the motors and most likely cause damage to the TARR proportional unit and or the tank electronics.

Also if your using a lipo battery maybe a voltage detector to warn you the battery is flat so you don’t over discharge it by accident.

I’ve had the TARR unit running on 2S, 3S and 4S LiPo’s with higher the voltage the more heat and smoke produced but I haven’t tested the TARR Pro (Mk3 & Mk4) with these battereis so I don’t know if the proprtional electronics can take the increased voltage.

Ian.

Great ian thanks. I was thinking along those lines. Might stick to NiMh for the time being

You could also pick up power between the power switch and tank electronics. That way smoker only on when tank turned on and you know when battery is getting flat.
