Hi People,
May I introduce myself and say it is a pleasure to 'meet' with you all.
I'm Stewart a 55 year old Instrument & Control Engineer from the UK, I've been lurking a while and as an introduction to the hobby I finally went down the tried and tested route of Taigen Early Tiger 1 Full Metal Airsoft. It arrived yesterday and on the whole very impressed albeit I've not much to compare it to!
As is customary for a Noobie I have a question, when I move it forwards or backwards slowly the engine sound etc is quite realistic. Above a certain speed a loud growling cuts in, I say growling but it's more like screeching from the sound module/speaker. Excuse my ignorance but is this a fault or is it Taigens's attempt at trying to mimic an accelerating/loaded engine?
I'II sneak another one in, I have the TG-3818-C model, the vendor I purchased it from states in the description "this is the latest version ......." I was surprised when it arrived it did not have the airsoft barrel recoil, has this function been realeased yet, is it available to purchase? Have I been misled?
The poor thing had a torturous journey to get to me, the outer box had a whole corner missing, the barrel of the cannon had punched through the inner and middle boxes and the top plate of the body is all marked where the turret had been forced heavily onto the body. It appears to be functioning normally apart from maybe the noise referred to above so I'll just enjoy it and wait and see.
Regards
Stewart
Another Noobie with Tiger 1 Question
Re: Another Noobie with Tiger 1 Question
Greetings....the usual reason for that screeching sound is your battery is not at full charge..and sometimes it's due to over compensation of the trims ...but mostly the battery...give it a good charge...usually about 4 to 6 hours with the stock drip charger....if it continues ...either they gave you a bad battery...or something is seriously wrong

Re: Another Noobie with Tiger 1 Question
Hallo Stewart, Welcome to the Forum, My first question is from whom did you buy the Tank?
I have long since learned to not sign for any delivery when the packing is severely damaged,
If you accept the delivery and then discover there is a problem it does not matter how helpful the dealer is,
When you tell them you will be on the wrong end of the aggravation,
If you refuse the delivery, of course telling the delivery driver why, and writing the damage details on his paperwork, then all the aggravation passes to the dealer.
As ALPHA say's it is probably an undercharged battery but it could be internal damage to the Tank, and to find out fit a fully charged battery and try again,
WARNING if it is still causing worry you will have to open the Tank, You do that and you are then liable for the cost of the fix.
shaun.

I think I am about to upset someone

Re: Another Noobie with Tiger 1 Question
I find that my tanks make a really annoying schreeching sound, whenever I am driving slowly forward, with the volume too low. Try cranking up the volume a bit.
Otherwise, yes there is a terrible sounding parody, of an engine running faster, when you drive faster than lurking speed. That is normal. I believe this is one(of many) of the reasons many of the more "advanced" tankers in here, upgrade the control board in their tanks, for one with better sounds.

Re: Another Noobie with Tiger 1 Question
Hi Stewart, from way across in Detroit, where the weak are killed and eaten.
The stock sound set leaves quite a bit to be desired. It has two sound levels when driving, one is supposed to be higher rpm. You usually have to apply a fair amount of throttle to get the "faster" sound to kick in. Can you show us video?
Right now (as far as I know) the airsoft barrel recoil is only available in one tank, and that's the tiger one Mid version. You can, however, purchase the whole turret and simply swap them, and it's totally plug and play, no soldering required. Do Instrument and Control Engineers do much soldering?
Again, welcome to the hobby. You're gonna love it. Then hate it. Then love it again. And the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'.

When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

I bought a cheap Torro/WSN Tiger on an impulse a few years back. last year I wanted a proper battery for it and I ended up getting this!!!
This stuff is addictive!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!
PS: The yellow tiger is the same as yours, I'm just giving it a repaint

Yes....I'd say that's fair warning
