The higher numbered Tigers, 341-344 were technically an extra platoon over and above the normal heavy tank company structure. This may well explain the different colour numerals to the rest of 3rd company.

i had a look through my stuff for pics of 111 and cant find any, i masked and sprayed the markings on but am unsure of the turret bin was the number the same size as the turret side numbers, the bin number just looks a bit small anyone got a pic or two ?......

Hi Oz...great tank....

My Tiger 323 colours looked nice and sharp like yours when I had finished the paint job......then the cock up.....I picked up the wrong can of matt varnish to mist coat over the Tamiya paint. I had picked up the Enamel by mistake....it made the colours run into one another. The time was about midnight when it happened and I was realy brassed off.....when I checked the tank in the morning I was not pleased to say the least...but it has grown on me.

I bet 111 gives you as much pleasure as 323 does for me.....Mike

gonna start the wash tomorrow Brian but you know how it is when you have a room full of guys nattering away.... :D i knew a guy who did a similar thing as you mike, he was adding the final touches to a 1/24 spitfire as a gloss coat he used halfords gloss spray varnish, when he looked at it he decided it needed one more coat but instead of spraying on gloss varnish he sprayed on halfords Matt black primer, not funny at the time but......... ;D ;D ;D

I know this is an old topic but I've been off line for over a month now,
The large white numbers for 3rd company are from the winter 43-44 these where changed latter to blue with a yellow outline by Normandy don't forget that pictures where taken all the time so you get a glimpse of the tanks from different periods now days a lot of books are incorrectly captioning pictures.

OZ nice SS102 paint work the turret numbers for this unit where a white outline the centre wasn't painted and followed angle of the turret roof the stowage bin was white outline infilled with black this unit only used late production Tigers not mid but it still looks good
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
