After a long thought process and seeing some tanks in person looks like im going with the Sherman...Max-U52 wrote:Yeah, I saw they have two different listings at two different prices, but it doesn't really say what the difference is. OK, looked again, the cheaper one has HL electronics. Imex is supposed to be coming out with an Abrams but they say at least a year for that. I'm still hoping they do an Easy 8.
So what's the verdict, Scott? Reached any conclusions?

If you get the one you posted the link to, Intnova is a reliable seller. I've dealt with them quite a few times with no trouble. You'll be able to make tons of mods to that, like metal tracks and suspension, electronics, paint, the whole nine yards. You've got a very fun project in front of you.
So what's your next tank gonna be?

They're a bit more robust than the RX-18. They have a cooling fan installed. But, the biggest bonus is that Imex-Erik is based in Florida and is only a phone call away for support.scottd1975 wrote:so why is the tiegen electronics so important?Roboticus_Prime wrote:That is just the stock heng long. With that specific listing, it's all about getting those steel V2 gearboxes with the bearings on every shaft.

If you plan to use a hobby grade board like an IBU then it's not. I haven't tried the latest version of Heng Long electronics, the last stock HL version I have is from when the T-34 first came out, HL's first foray into 2.4 GHz, before volume and smoke at the TX, but all the HL tanks I bought that came with the RX-18 and the crystal set-up I changed over to Taigen electronics. You have to ask yourself how far in the hobby you want to go. If you really want to get into it you'll change the electronics and probably the suspension and roadwheels, and of course proper tracks, sprockets and idlers. Then maybe a Henntec, and on ... and on ... and on. But I thought you had made up your mind on the Sherman? The offer still stands on the PzIII. I'll send a PM.

Going from my experience, I'd say that the HL RX-18's would be a just fine for a tank beginner. Mostly because when you fry your first board (it will happen) the RX-18 is only $20. Even the Taigen version is only $50.Max-U52 wrote:If you plan to use a hobby grade board like an IBU then it's not. Unless you get a used Taigen TX/MFU from me, then it's $50 for both the MFU and the transmitter, shipping included to anyplace that has a US zip code. I sell just the MFU for $35, shipping included.Roboticus_Prime wrote:Going from my experience, I'd say that the HL RX-18's would be a just fine for a tank beginner.
