Tamiya M4 E8...and so the big tank saga begins

Starting with this: Tamiya M4 105 howitzer, but I will be doing plenty of mods and changes.
First off, I'm not a fan of the 105, so a resin turret and a 76mm long gun will be substituted.
I'm really not even a Sherman fan, tending to those of the cross, with the only Allied tank I find myself attracted to is the Churchill and variants.
Most of my favorite M4 based tanks are based on the earlier suspension design, so my options are limited with an Easy 8.
This will probably be my only Easy 8 build, so I'm aiming for a well known tank of some type.. Research to follow.
But it WILL be a 76... And super detailed to the best of my ability.

As for the running gear, I only want to have to do this once, so,... Bearings are on order, Impact metal tracks, idlers and mounts, and return rollers are on order. Yeah, all that probably isn't necessary, but I'm going for it, just because. I'm also playing with the idea of an ETO transmission, but not sure on that one yet...

Nervous, a bit scared, but here we go.

Comments are appreciated.

Very nice kit - the resin turret is an absolute peach too.

Will have some parts spread out pics this weekend. A Nick Aguilar Easy eight conversion is in the works now, and some goodies coming from ETO and also from Mitosal.
Now I'm looking at RC options. I'd love to go fully independent on my main gun movement and firing using extra channels, but I'm not sure Tamiya's electronics will support that without giving issues..

I'm still absolutely unsure of the prototype I will model the tank on. Nick's Turret is the early two piece loader's hatch lid, so I've asked him to not open the hatch so I can decide myself.
I believe most Easy Eights had the later one piece hatch?
