Panzer question.

Post by jackalope »

Does anyone here have a Panzer 1,2 or 3? If so could you please post some pics and measurement of how wide the tracks are. Please. I need to find out some details for these before I order a set and get stuck with something that won't work.

Thanks guys.

Ok then a 4 too. :haha:

I may have to go with the 251 metal tracks from Asiatam but they're 1/16 scale and my halftrack is 1/18 scale and I wonder if they'd even work? I know size wise they're very close but the way the drive sprocket meshes with the tracks I'm not sure if this would be an issue or not, does anyone know? The Asiatam tracks are VERY nice! Metal with rubber pads! :D VERRRRY nice!

Remind me to Email you later Jack :haha: I know of tracks that are narrower than the Panzer III or IV :D which measure in at an inch outside to outside a little under 3/4 where the sprocket hooks in ;)

Don't forget about the guide horns. PZIII + IV tracks have a single guide horn in the middle of each link. PZI, II and PZ38t have two guide horns on each link.

Well damn then I need a III or IV. Thanks Woz!
Think I may just try the 1/16 251 tracks. Gonna email Asuatam first and see if I can get some measurements on them.

This 251 is turning into a pain.

:haha: :haha: :haha: Such is life when building out of the PROVERBIAL box :haha: ...you wonder why conversions take so long...it's mostly sourcing parts...ordering them ...and finally ... waiting for them to arrive  What adds to it is how things progress...it's a step by step process...no matter how much you think you may have planned there will be something MURPHY will throw into that build

Best thing Jack...have an easy side project to work on :haha: ...Like my M1a2

You might also consider using the tracks from a 1/25 Panther model. Two rows of guide horns, and the length should be enough for a 1/16 Sdkfz 251. The sprocket is very different, of course; but the outer side could be made better-looking. Certainly a cheaper route to try than the correct - but costly - Asiatam ones. -Mike
