Tom, I would never blame a seller for some UPS screwed up. You're 110% correct that wouldn't be right.
Re: Don't touch with a barge pole
Hi I was watching this the first time it was on e-bay , I thought it might be worth a bid , the photos on e-bay were not that good I saw the gearboxes counted 6 of them but couldn't tell if they were pairs (if someone is selling gearboxes you automatically think they are pairs). As for the other parts in the lot hard to tell exactly what was there 5 Sherman turrets and A hull (leo I think) the rest of the parts all pilled up so you couldn't tell hat they were I could see a few Panther hulls 1/25 scale.
I dare say if the gearboxes had been pairs Steve would have gone through with the auction as these were the best items in the pile. But from the photos you couldn't see if they were pairs. I do think the seller should have put a note on the sale that the gearboxes were all one hand, If he had I bet the auction would stopped at around one hundred pounds or less.He did try to pull a fast one regards this lot.

Your post brings up good points....kind of highlights the reason there is a "CONTACT SELLER" feature on every auction on EBAY...Jack's first reply to this thread was probably the most logical... Because if there is any question to what exactly is in the photo...ASK971wright wrote:Hi I was watching this the first time it was on e-bay , I thought it might be worth a bid , the photos on e-bay were not that good I saw the gearboxes counted 6 of them but couldn't tell if they were pairs (if someone is selling gearboxes you automatically think they are pairs). Asking still never hurts....for two reasons...if there is a sudden increase in the bid after asking...that should raise a "RED FLAG"... The other reason is if the seller responds in a reasonable amount of time....if not ...another "RED FLAG"
I've experienced both of these happenings...In which I will let the auction go...nothing on EBAY is really that rare...things always appear again sooner or later...even if a seller says something is "HARD TO FIND"..."VINTAGE"..."VERY RARE"

So many instances I have seen where those words are used...then about three listings later a brand spanking new same item is listed...as you go on there may be even 5 or 6 more

EBAY is tricky...it's too bad that the one thing EBAY cannot regulate is Honesty

CAVEAT EMPTOR GENTS
HAPPY TANKING
ALPHA
PS. The worse "SHILLING" I have ever seen ...are usually on 2nd hand RC tanks...no matter the brand...it can start at 99 dollars US...and get pushed till the seller has the price he really wants...which is usually almost retail on a new one

Re: Don't touch with a barge pole
I saw there was what looked like three pairs of gearboxes they are worth at least £150 that's what I based my bid on the rest was a bonus it was a kt or Panther hull. Alpha he never gave me a refund Ebay did after he disputed it that's why I have posted this thread if he gave me a refund that would have been fine.

Re: Don't touch with a barge pole
Got a reply. He says it's parts that he's gathered over the years as an eBay seller and is no longer going to be selling any tank things anymore so he's selling what things he has left over. He said the King Tiger metal hull is worth £40 all by itself and each "set" of gearboxes £20each. He also said the sale is not meant for an R/C tank enthusiast but rather another re-seller, I would guess someone like Forgebear.

AH...understand a little more...still by right...the guy didn't have to refund IMO...lucky EBAY sided with you this timetankmad wrote:I saw there was what looked like three pairs of gearboxes they are worth at least £150 that's what I based my bid on the rest was a bonus it was a kt or Panther hull. As far as value goes...it sounds like what Jack just found out...like the guy is Liquidating his stock...reason logically there aren't matching anything in the lot...personally I still would have got clarification before bidding...and because it is a Clearance...would judge on the kind of percentage I would be willing to pay for each part...Liquidation houses pay at the most 50 cents on the dollar...at the very least 10 cents on the dollar...just because they know items in a "LOT" may not be usable...which is the situation in this case...The guy is basically Cleaning House ...and if I did bid...it would be low..not caring if I am outbid
Sometimes it's just not worth the headache...

My last word of advice is to just be careful when bidding on "LOTS"...and chalk this one up as Lesson learned

Good Luck on your next bid tankmad

If he had a set of 4.1 hardened KT gearboxes and metal lower hull for the KT I'd buy it my damn self!
