alan youre quite right the tamiya recoil action isnt a "accurate" action, but they do work well and are reliable, (except the microswitch) wecohe make the upgrade for the tam' recoil, but i refuse to pay stupid money for not much difference, ive heard they arent as good as they are cracked up to be, on my one ive not tried to modify it yet, other than replace the microswitch, nigel and me talked about ways to modify it, and what we thought would work is to change the motor pinion to make it recoil faster, and may be a microswitch to drop the voltage to the motor on full recoil, so the barrel comes out a little slower (does this make sense?)thus giving an accurate recoil action, will it work? i dont know, but its better than paying through the nose for something that isnt that good. and its more fun finding out if it works, and experimenting with it

ps, jake that is a really nice recoil set up you have done there, nothing like mine, i used the bb gun and hacked that up, more belts and braces

Are any of these any good, the first one is from Tank Zone and the second RC Command i would prefer to get one of the shelf because im crap at modifing this sort of thing, does it have to be a Tiger 1 recoil unit or can you make any fit ???

I only buy the heng long recoil anymore.  It is the best bang for the buck.  I have done a mod where you run the bbl through the "back" .  THis means you have no internal gun mods to do, and only have to install a contact switch.  Pretty simple, and the link to my youtube video shows the results.

I have the aisatam recoil in my tiger and it does not recoil all the way, so I am going to fit a mini micro switch to see if that helps

No you have to wire it up as per my diagram.  The contact switchs I buy from a local supplier at about $4.00.  I did find some on the net for less then $2.00 so I ordered them along with some other electric supplies.

Hi Keith if your going to order from Rccommand also order the extra channel crystals all of them ,It will allow you to have more channels and it shouldnt cost any extra on post .I would send Bill an E-mail and see if he will give you you a discount for buying and postage and order all the stuff in one go .
