Almost there with the modelling, just some horizontal wires to solder to the tarpaulin frames, and then it's down to painting, canvas cover and finishing.
Decided I needed something for the matador to tow and the 5.5 inch howitzer looks the business so here we go:
Photos moved to separate thread for howitzer
I will need to go aluminium tube for the barrel as I can't find any styrene the appropriate size.
Matador pretty much ready for painting, rear frame soldered, and here it is with the 5.5 inch howitzer I'm working on.
Next stage will be paint but I'm waiting for my airbrush to arrive (with bated breath - bought from evilbay auction and not sure if it's any good ) plus I'll need to practice first before attempting the matador.
Coming along very nicely, can't wait to see the paint on. I don't recall seeing one of these in 1/16 anywhere else, so this is going to be a unique model.
Boom Crash Hot mate, you have the only one.
I guess you will have to do a 25pdr , limber & Quad next................since you made this one look so good, and easy
Thanks guys, I'm not so sure about the 'easy' bit though. There have been several sessions of considerable colourful language and loss of hair before the model you see was created (and many many hours of fiddly work)! Anyway the result should be worth it. Funnily enough I have been considering the quad, but the queue of projects probably means that will have to wait until much later in the year, I'm itching to get started on the M7 Priest which is on the to-do shelf and looking me in the eye every time I walk in the room, and still have the howitzer and M1A2 to finish (and a camo job and some tweaking on the Tiger). Ah the fun never ends... Alwyn
