I would like to do a update on the m26 Pershing. I'm glad to say that shes running, it turns out the crystals were worn out , but the cannon barrel isnt moving up or down, would anyone know what that could mean? lil explanation I can move the barrel with my hand with ease but when i try to lower or raise it nothing happens, are the hears shot or something?

Did you try checking the wires to the elevation unit ? sometimes those suckers come loose ...you will have to open the turret to really check... so when you are in there..make sure your gun mech moves freely ...that also occasionally gets stuck

Good Luck Brant

well I opened the tank today, and it turns out there actually is no elevation unit in the Pershing, if im not mistaken it sits above the battery housing area because theres mount holes there but nothing is there, I'll take a picture of the inside shortly

WHAT??????????????? :O ....This is a old tank right...not something you just bought?....so it sounds like you found the problem Brant :haha: ...now aside from getting an elevation unit...I might get the home exorcized or search for gremlin footprints...cause those elevation units don't just evaporate 8O

I bought the tank off ebay for around 55 dollars(total score) It needed work but the cost isnt expensive, mostly new crystals, elevation unit, and a new set of detail part
Heres some pictures of it.

Actually not bad Brant....a lot of tank to build on .... can't quite see the 11 pin hookup.. that's where the turret wires would normally connect...but with that said..what your problem could be ...is that because it's the newer version of the HL Pershing ... it could be the white plug that comes out of the turret is plugged in incorrectly...try turning that sucker around ..it's the three pin that goes into the 11 pin board screwed into the hull... the photos are good..but it doesn't show the elevation unit which is inside the turret behind the firing mech...the elevation unit is junction wired to the firing mech...part of those wires collect to the white three pin plug
Like I said...I can't quite see the position of it...but just give it a turn around and plug it back in...I'm pretty sure that should solve your problem ;)

hi ok i think i may help here if this is a heng long pershing tank m26 and its a bb version in the turret you should have a unit that turns at the back in the top part of the turret the fact that you say you can move it up and down freely tells me the on the end of the bb unit there is a hook peg if that has been snapped off then it wont go up and down but you will hear the motor running i hope this is of some help dave

When I use the controller to move the barrel up and down there is no motor sound or anything, if im not mistaken the elevation unit isnt there

Ok Brant...an even better set of photos...but this is the one that is the most relevant
Image
so let's see...doesn't look like you have the three pin plug...but you do have the 11pin input...so it is a newer model for sure... but from this picture everything kind of looks ok

next step...you see the three screws holding the turret retaining ring?(the black sprocket in the center of everything) take those off and remove the turret...and unplug the CN3MGfire plug
the one that looks loose
Image
and remove your turret
look inside your turret ...check for what forgebear is talking about...and also the elevation unit...it should be a black mech and should be right behind the tan firing mech
the pin that forgebear is talking about is an extension off that tan unit

now if all looks ok in there... then you will have to take the turret apart....this is so you can check the wires on the elevation unit if it is there...there should be six screws underneath the turret ...removing those will allow you to split the two halves

if you post more pictures of the inside of the turret it might be easier to explain what to do next ;)

but for the most part you want to make sure the elevation unit is there...and if any of the wires are disconnected...as it doesn't look like HL changed the wiring ...they or the previous owner just added the 11 pin which still could be the problem if he did ...
because the 11 and 8 (older model) pin plug in (the board behind the machine gun ) are wired differently
