Sherman Test Platform Version 1

Post by Merlin707 »

I decided to model my Sherman on the military test platform that was utilised to test turrets and weaponry, similar to a modern day evaluation unit.

Version 1 is my Pershidog (Work in Progress)

I have also finally managed to fit my HVSS suspension to this Heng Long hull.

Glad I get to finally see the suspension you were striving for Merlin. I like those tracks (but I wish someone made the Sherman style ones!)

Is that a Pershing turret? Looks like a Walker, or Patton turret.

Hi Sov, the turret is from a Walker Bulldog.

I'm glad that I finally managed to get the HVSS fitted, it was at a standstill for a time due to not receiving some parts from Jason's Store.

I lucked in when I noticed my local hobby store had them sat on a shelf.

It runs so much smoother with the wider tracks and better quality suspension.

Hit a slight snag, the turret rotation seems to intermittently jam with a grinding / cracking sort of noise.
Not quite sure why as the turret black ring is the same size as the standard sherman one.

Any advice or ideas welcome.

I would suggest you check the rotation unit Merlin...it's all nylon in there...something could be stuck in the grease or one of the pins that support the gears might be off...worse case scenario is the pinion on the motor cracked

Interesting execution with the Walker Turret...thought about doing one...even thought of putting the PanTiger turret on one lol...ever thought about cutting off the tool box and having a shorter profile to the turret? ;)

I'll open up the rotation unit and have a look.

I actually like the extended look to the turret, it makes the tank look fuller at the rear where as before it was just an open space.
