Well, I did a bit of ball gazing & went on a mission not really sure what I would find until I found it kind of thing.
Again, like the Tu-tu net that I found to be ideal for chickenwire on helmets, I think that I found the suitable substitute for the ultra thin lead sheet. A travel towel :eh:
In the camping supplies area of a store I never really go into I found a lightweight travel towel.
Its like chamois cloth & is the size of a normal bath towel but thin.
Had the look & feel of what I needed & was $5 bucks (thats about 2.20 quid !!!)
Cut it to size & covered the inside with undiluted PVA glue. Then the fun/shit started !!
Must have had some form of contaminant on a bit of it because a section just would not stay stuck to the brass ring :-<
Exercised my right to lose it & busted out the super glue.
Sorted.
Also ran cable conduits to the front lights & added a drivers plate track retainer bar.
Really is a practice run for the StuG but without side skirts.

Nah, hes going to 'drill' the way he is.
To put those tensioners on is quite a big deal on internal hardware removal on the ass-end, and for this one, its not really necessary.
The StuG will need them though.
I got the mount for the canvas cover installed & thats about it for last night.
Bathurst V8 Supercars in Australia AND the Moto GP from Motegi Japan were on today so nothing got done but eating, boozing, & watching motorsport
I think that the next one will be the King Tiger................the PzIII has been a bit of a bummer after the White Tiger.
Im off out the the rigs for a while so the 'tank elf' will have to come in and cover me :P
But I bet he doesnt :(

Not the way I found to do it Herman.... actually you could probably paint this one and still put the tensioner on.... the way I didn't doesn't take much surgery...just drawing it out and explaining it is the hard part lol

Rigs?? oil rigs???...gone for awhile then 8O

Stay safe buddy

Herman,
You shouldn't be bummed by the Pz III. You've done a great job. This hauler will look splendid in paint and gear.

Painless

Well ..............Im back. As it is in this industry things change.

Took the time to assimilate back into 'normal' life by getting on with the PzIII hauler.
Mucked around with stowage position & made up a spare canvas cover with the travel towel material and binding twine covered in PVA glue.

Took out the projectiles that came in the crates. Not right, & I took a chance on 'procurring" a couple of .244 Balistic caped 55 grain hunting bullet heads to see how they looked. For scale they are precisely 1/16th of 88mm at 5.5mm
And the tiny red ballistic caps will be fine for the look of the end of the real thing.
Pretty happy with the outcome.
Took advantage of the sunshine & sprayed the grey over the hull after masking off with tinfoil.

Welcome back, Herman,
Nice tip on the tinfoil for masking for paint. It's not just for hats anymore. ;o) The Schlepper is turning out very nicely. Cool find on the warheads for the ammo casings as well!
