That would be the beauty of just going to the 2.4 rig....you don't need that extra board anymore....the benefits also include you don't need antennas....and you get better range and smoother control
I'm not sure about there in the UK...but here in the states... the price difference is nominal about 20 dollars or so...about 8 pounds...as complete crystal sets with the receiver board.. run about 60 dollars...and the 2.4s around 70.... the extra would be because you need a power lead..which is about 4 to 8 dollars...the crystal units usually include all the wires
There in the UK... I've seen Welsh with both units... and forgebear with the crystal ...complete packages ...though I think they are a tad higher in price than here
The controller that came with your tank goes out with the current board .... either set you choose ..if you get the package comes with a new one...the crystal package will already have matching crystals

PS...You can see why it's sometimes better to pop the few extra dollars to level up when purchasing a tank usually for about 20 to 30 dollars the tank has more functions or better parts
