Tamiya price increase...wow!
Take a look at Modelsport etc. All of the Tamiya range has been increased. Most by £130, the Leopard by over £200, and the Jagdpanther by a smaller amount. Either Tamiya is being optimistic, or they are in serious financial trouble. Who in their right mind increases prices by 30% in a recession? It could be that HL have demolished their market and that this is a last ditch effort to recoup costs. If this is the case then we may see them pull out of the market all together. As to why they didn't simply slash their prices by 50% and put HL out of business is a mystery.
It makes HL stuff look like a gift by comparison??

Maybe the increase is because the £ is so week at the moment.
Tamiya probaly base their prices in $'s or Euros for the Euro zone. So it's not surprising that the prices have gone up, in the UK anyway.

U.S prices have gone up 30% as well, its a global thing. Speculation about petroleum based plastics, but if that was the case then China would get hit the same way. Ah well, I will just sit and admire my Heng Longs...sigh...

If tamiya wanted to get some quick sales they should bring out their own Sherman VVSS upgrade kit with tracks or maybe an r/c 1/16 Jeep. Instant ker-ching £$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£ ::)
You aint gettin me on no plane fool!

is this really true, or a wind up?, i mean, i have no business sense, but like rob g, said who in there righty mind would put prices up in a recession?, its madness. or is it a case of another way of ripping us brits of even more than we already are. to me there is NO justifiable reason for hiking the prices

Its probably becausethe Yen is rising in value against the Dollar and Pound. This means they are getting more expensive to export.
Toyota and Honda are in the same boat, historically the weak Yen gave them an edge in the US market - now that their margins just got eaten by the exchange rate swing they're all cutting production and jobs.
