Yes I remembered you had the Pantiger Tiger...it's the reason I asked... I just retired mine... replaced it with the new Heng Long...it's a big improvement...though with enough work and investment the Pantiger can be built into a nice early Panther A

I read on one of Toms post where someone mentioned the differences in the glacis plate... and when I did my quickie that was not so quick... I did have some tamiya parts for that area... which did reveal the difference..... so I initially thought the Heng Long wasn't that accurate...but dang..I change my mind

I thought the HL was a copy of the Tamiya - at least the basic shape - which is why the drive placement is wrong on both of them.

No... apparently the Tamiya is fatter... from the bottom of the hull to where it meets the upper ...I compared the side transmission plate to find the difference... the Tamiya is about a 1/4 inch taller
I would be genuinely shocked that the Tamiya is less accurate than the HL to the original. After all one is a renowned creator of kits with decades of experience....and the other one isn't.

I know right.... but judging by those shots of the Panther from the front...the Tamiya sits too high
i was thinking that the new panther upper deck and turret might fit the jagdpanther lower hull. i see the jagdpanther lower hull is often advertised as a jagdpanther/panther hull and i have a spare HL one so could i get a new panther top half to add and make a new type panther. hmmmmmm. would do you think Alpha or indeed anyone ?

You know Tiger... dgsellkirk was planning on making a Panther (A) I provided some diagrams for him... when I did that I noticed that several parts from the Pantiger translate well to that build ...so you might just consider combining the two ( yes you still need an upper) and making the early version of the Panther
The Pantiger's mantlet is the one you need ..actually the whole turret...also the rear bulkhead with the exhausts...no hull machine gun and there is a driver's port on the glacis plate
well Alpha the panther build is definitely on now, i have sourced a new new heng long panther deck from dave/ forgebear, but on same day on ebay later on there was a panther g new heng long panther g lower hull plus deck with roadwheels what could a poor tank builder do but get both ha ha. Anyway i went to my spares box of bits and found the jagdpanther lower hull and a complete rx18 setup from where i upgraded my own jagdpanther to 2.4 and taign metal hull/roadwheels , so i should be ok. i just need to source a pantiger complete turret now but they are proving hard to find complete on their own. i also sourced a new jagdpanther back panel from dave/forgebear as mine was damaged couldnt find a panther one and the other purchase hasnt got one. might have to get a correct exhaust setup as i dont think they look same as jagdpanther. oh yes i finally finished the desert tiger after reading this forum on how to setup all the taigen wiring setup for the ir/ flash metal turret with recoil. basically its a full taigen tiger 1 now with 2.4 taigen tx rx built from parts. will post some updated pics soon.

If you Hurry you'll beat dgsellkirk ..at building his Panther A He didn't believe me when I told him the Pantiger's turret is perfect for it
