If it is a new H/L upper hull, which yours seems to be, I would stick with that as the only tool that is left moulded to the hull is the pry bar on the left side. the rest are now add on piececs. As far as I know this is not the case with the Taigen Hull, all the tools are still moulded in on that.

With the turret on the other hand I think the new Taigen plastic one is better, it has the trunion ends already moulded and the 3rd trunion in the centre of the stowage bin is also there. It is generally a crisper moulding.

The Hulls and turrets mix and match quite well.

Thanks guy. Not sure about the T34 don't think they had one that I noticed. They had the King Tiger, 2 Stromtigers, a KV1, a Sherman, and a M41 Bulldog.

My hull has no tools molded onto it at all they all are seperate and held on with plastic pins and the radiator grills detailing is very crisp. But as you said Scalawag the turret detail is lacking. If the Taigen turret comes as detailed as you say I'll have to grab me one, again thanks.

Well its time to start cutting the road wheel screws and idler wheel screws.

Boy Jack... I'm sure glad Scalawag came in with that info.... as I wasn't sure about the Taigen upper hull...It also did occur to me that if you did go in that direction... you may well rebuild the Heng Long... as pretty much you have all the makings of a Hybrid Taigen Tiger as well....right now I would estimate you have about 13/4 tanks in your stable..

...just another realization that comes while venturing down the path of modifications in the Adventure

I saw one of the newer H/L tigers today at a local model flying club, and so was able to have a proper look.

I can confirm that the Taigen Turret will definitely be a better detailed option than the H/L one. Welshdragon stocks them at a very reasonable price.

The hull looks much easier to work with now that the tools are separate pieces. The drivers vision port was still closed on the one I saw today so I would be looking to do something with that, but generally that hull looks very crisp.

Yep definitely ALPHA, The metal one is almost as poor as the H/L plastic one detail wise and expensive. The "early" Tiger turrets from H/L or Taigen all need the top of the cupola turning to correct the hatch angle, but the Taigen plastic one is streets ahead in terms of detail and the crispness of the moulding. Short of buying a Tamiya, hatchette, or hobby boss turret I think it is the best you will find. It is ready to plug in from the box too.

The taigen plastic one is also great value. Welshdragon sells just the recoil unit, without the barrel or anything else for £24.99 the whole Turret is only£34.99

Actually they are not smoke launchers. They launch S-mines.

The new HENG LONG upper is as you say far better than the old one with one exception, the drivers visor was easily removable before but the whole front, mg mount, drivers visor, is attached to the glasis which unlike the old one is not held to the body by screws and a dab of glue, this has no screws just an awful lot of glue, the old upper was made of a plastic that would not weaken or deform when using a debonder to release glued on parts this is not true of the plastic now being used, I ruined a rear section using debonder and I am reluctant to try it on any other parts. I wish you better luck and if you are successful please tell us how you did it. shaun
