Re: "WHITE TIGER"
OK, I see what you mean now.
Can you give me the turret numbers of some of these potentially grey Tigers?

Thanks Mr Painless, honestly, the hairspray/white wash thing is pretty easy.,PainlessWolf wrote:Good Morning, Herman,

Both to get right, and to over do and get wrong, but the entire concept will vary from tank type to tank type, theatre of operation, unit, all range of things.
I feel confident enough to actually go way to far on this and simply over spray the white again..............The same would not be as forgiving for traditional camo paint using the hairspray as a weathering method, once you rub it off, its gone.
Im very tempted to do a T34 just to run riot with the idea

The chipping fluids with the same active ingredients will give you a more controllable finish on weathering on normal camouflage. With a bit of practice it can be done in a very subtle manner.
I think your white wash looks good, they didn't use permanent paint for it so the very worn look I think is appropriate.

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
Thanks Mr Bilpe, the subject picture does not show so much wear on the WW, but there is enough stark white on it to suggest the picture was taken relatively soon after application, or perhaps it was touched up.
'213' was seen to be very stark white in the pictures I have seen, so there is no way of telling when in relation to the snapshot the white wash was applied to '100'
I can conservatively say that if I need to touch this up, I can do it without much drama.
The only downside is..............................it still smells feminine
!!!!!!
Which is fine, dont get me wrong, but outside of plastic, it should smell like steel and petrol

You know Herman... there is a trick we used a long time ago.... if you really want to get that feminine aroma dissipated ....grab a buddy's tobacco stick... soak it in water... and use that as a weathering...the longer you soak it the darker it gets... works great for staining wood as well.... the one drawback is... if the scent of the hairspray is that strong... the aroma might resemble that of a night at the local PubHERMAN BIX wrote:

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
Oh its strong alright !!...............last time I drank at a pub there would have been a faint aroma of stale urine & the ambient breeze carried tyre smoke
!!
Ahh the good ole days eh ................
I still have the detailing of the wear to put into the WW, and al the usual mud etc.
Tools will be next, and the jack bock which is to be carved out of balsa & framed for the hull top.
I ordered a set of early tiger steel tracks just now, the ones it came with I assume were H/L steel and had quite flimsy track pins, as a managed to bust one shaking water out of it after bluing with Hoppes Gun Blue solution.
The H/L steel tracks wont go to waste though, I have a plan

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
I always thought the HL metal tracks not to bad. My only complaint was they're ever so slightly to narrow. The quality isn't as good as impact but then impact tracks cost about 4 times more!

Great build, I love the little details early on and the white wash looks fantastic!

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
I got a set for my Jagd which have much more robust pins, this Tiger tracks were fitted when I got it, and the pins in these are smaller diameter than the ones on my Jagd tracks.billpe wrote:I always thought the HL metal tracks not to bad. The same manufacturer of the Jagd tracks makes the Tiger tracks(I suspect they are Taigen but could not tell you) so Im hoping they will be stronger in the pins.
If not, nothing lost, they were only $58 a set and I have a plan for the other ones.
