Not much to report, lots of fiddling about, primer on the remaining road wheels and some detail bits, at this rate I am going to go broke just buying primer. I love the mr surfaced 1000 red oxide but it's not cheap and a can doesn't seem to go far. Will have to look for a cheaper option. I ordered a compass cutter and some digital calipers cheap off amazon, once they arrive I am going to have a crack at moving the turret back 13-15mm 8O this makes me nervous , however after reading a few posts on here I think I can do it
Also going to perform surgery and remove the HL Rommel box
This surgery stuff in nerve wracking :haha:

Hi , we'll today I dove right in and did part one of the turret relocation, I followed wildboar44 's fantastic how to viewtopic.php?f=22&t=10700&hilit=Workin ... h&start=60 to the letter except I chose to move the turret back 13.5mm . So far so good ,

I also added the turret side slits and ground off the HL Rommel box to add the tamiya one
Tomorrow I am attempting to move the upper hull turret hole back 13.5mm

Fingers crossed!

Those turret vision slit blocks are a fancy extra mate, they really do look well worth the effort to supply and fit.

On the turret position, can anyone give a confirmed measured distance from the front of the drivers glasis plate back to the closest point on the mantlet plate ? (near the ring of domed bolt heads beside the barrel.
My Tiger cannot have ist turret moved back bu 13 mm or it will be over the engine bay grills.
I have about 5/16th of an inch between the corner of my grills to the base of the turret ring.

Herman the generals consensus is 13mm. I have read 13, 14 & 15 so I said screw it ;D and went with
13.5 and will hope for the best :D

Yip, 13.5 is the number, but it just wont fit on my tank.
Im really trying to check & see if the newer HL Tigers have the turret in the correct position.

I don't know if this helps or just adds to the confusion, but I have a TORRO TIGER 1 and I have always been given to understand that the Turret is in the correct place, recently I bought a new HENG LONG TIGER 1 upper hull body and I compared the two, they both have the TURRET in the same place just as they both had two aerial stowage tubes!!! (not any longer) so if the TORRO TIGERs measurements are right then so are the new HENG LONG TIGER 1s.The measurements are FRONT GLACIS to TURRET FRONT of TURRET BASE 71.60MM and the rear is 39mm TURRET REAR of TURRET BASE to engine access hatch. Come on, someone out there must have the definitive answer, cos if I am wrong then I shall have to move two turrets back :( shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Lets call this "turret-gate" but i cannot see how on gods green earth I can move my turret back half an inch. :wtf: :wtf:
Could we have a simple case of mistaken assumption ?

By my calcs, and the measurements I have on mine, we are looking at a distance of 608mm in full scale. From the front of the drivers glasis to the mantlet face at the nearest point.
Thats 38mm in metric (scale actual) or 1 1/2" imperial(scale actual as pictured)
Thoughts ?

I have 21mm from the turret stowage bin face to the centre of the engine air filter cover.
Reducing that by 13.5mm or half an inch would put the stowage bin abvout covering the engine deck handles.

I just dont know if there is an identifying point that we can all use to assess each model out of the box to decide IF it needs the turret moving or not.
Either way mate, the effort you have and are putting in on this project is deserved of high praise and credit, I just dont want to think you might have done this for no other reason than no reason not to ??

Mine cant move, and be right, it could be the year build of the model, or the glue affected monkey at the H/L factory, but until we all get some form of Datum measurements..........................................................................
