I would like to have somewhat brighter headlights on my tanks. Also I'd like to add some tail lights, or convoy lights for the back. Who sells these and how do I install them?
I am not too concerned about complete historical accuracy with the lights but I don't want to be totally unrealistic either. I like to drive them at night and the lights make it easier to see them, that and the lights are just a cool touch. I did a search for "convoy lights" and the results weren't quite helpful enough.
Can anyone provided info on this, sources, ways to fabricate lights if need be and maybe pictures of your lighting set ups?

Re: Options for brighter tiger and king tiger lights?
Hi Marc780,
Problem with the RX18/Taigen control boards is the power for the lights is limited, so adding more will actually decrease the headlight brightness further. So for this reason I would suggest powering the headlights directly from the battery (through a resistor).
Also to keep cost down the original headlight will most likely be cheap and not very bright. So when looking for replacement look for high brightness versions, something in the region of 15000mcd (for white LED)
Convoy light, search the forum as a few people in the past installed them with pictures, if your not bothered for accuracy you can probably get away with a coloured LED at the back

Re: Options for brighter tiger and king tiger lights?
Ian: can I wire an led straight from the switch, use the smoke connector on the rx18, or do I have to use some other piece in between? All I read when I googled all this was you need a resistor or modulator or something in the circuit-I'm not very knowledgeable about these.
Re: Options for brighter tiger and king tiger lights?
Hi yes can wire from the main switch or the smoker, but will need a resistor.
A typical white LED will be 3.2v and 20mA, so if you connect that straight to power or smoker supply which is 7.2v 1700ma (assuming using standard battery) it will just destroy the LED. Therefore to work out the resistor needed.
(Supply voltage - LED voltage) / current in Amps = Resistance
(7.2v - 3.2v) / 0.02A = 200 ohms
Hope that helps.
